Mina and the others surrounding her laughed hysterically at Kaminari's usual shortages. The whole BakuSquad was having a great time, laughing and giggling as they had fun on their typical Friday Night Hangout. Well, almost all of them were enjoying their time together. Except for a typical blonde.
"I don't understand. What's so funny about this to you idiots?" Katsuki stated in an annoyed tone, his arms crossed as he had an irritated look spread across his face. Mina huffed and folded her arms, puffing out her cheeks angrily as she looked to the side.
"Awe, come on Bakubro! Live a little! You're always a downright bummer! Try to open up a bit and smile!" Eijiro chimed, trying to lighten the blonde's mood. To his disadvantage, he only earned an eye roll out of him as a response. Hanta Sero gritted his teeth, becoming fed up with Katsuki's continuous negative attitude towards those around him.
"Maybe if you weren't always so heartless, you'd know what it's like to have fun and feel love," Sero growled, earning shocked expressions from the whole group. The blonde was taken aback by the sudden insult, not used to someone retaliating. Of course, he has to deal with Monoma from Class 1-B, but this hit hard. Was he that heartless?
Katsuki felt tears threaten to fall as he bit the inside of his cheek, looking down at the floor so nobody could notice. Sero clasped his hands over his mouth when he saw everyone's reaction. He knew he went overboard with his comment. The blonde stood up and ran out of the common room in one swift movement, running up the stairway towards the dorms. Sero could feel the glares from the squad burning through him.
"Not cool, dude. We know he can be a pain, but we don't know what he goes through. Everyone has reasons for acting the way they do," Eijiro said, shaking his head in clear disappointment. Within the six months they've been friends, not once did they ever see Katsuki get overly upset as he had just done a few seconds ago. And to everyone's luck, Izuku walks in with Shoto and Ochako.
"Oh, hey guys! We just got back from the mall!" Izuku purred cheerfully, wearing a new hoodie that had All Might printed on the front of it. When the greenette was answered with silence, he quickly noticed the tension and uneasiness in the air. He pinched his chin in confusion as he looked at everyone.
"What's up with you guys? And have you guys seen Kacchan?" he asked, seeing everyone tense up at that question. Everyone except Zero. Izuku looked at everyone and locked eyes with the ravenette, walking over him with a saint-like look on his face.
"Sero-Kun, where's Kacchan?" he asked again, but aiming the question towards Sero this time. Sero felt shivers go down his spine as he looked away, pointing to the staircase that led to everyone's dorms.
"He went upstairs. Probably in his dorm," he answered in a whisper, making it obvious that he had something to do with Katsuki not being in the room with the rest of the squad.
Izuku made his way upstairs towards Katsuki's dorm but came to a quick halt when the sound of explosions and items crashing echoed throughout the dormitory. The greenette started sprinting to the blonde's room, opening the door to find him standing in front of something he'd never thought he'd witness. Katsuki's dorm room was trashed and the blonde's belongings were scattered everywhere, holes in the wall as well as some scorch marks from his quirk. The blonde looked over at Izuku with tears streaming down his face and his fists balled up.
"Kacchan..? Wha-.." Izuku was speechless, not knowing what he should say about the situation. He wasn't sure if he was even able to say anything at all. During his entire childhood friendship with Katsuki Bakugou, he's never once seen him in this state. Of course, he's seen him cry, but that was only twice. This was a shocking thing for the poor greenette to witness.
Katsuki spun around and half-sprinted to the bathroom, fumbling with the doorknob as he tried to open it. His body and hands trembled vigorously, making it difficult to control them properly. Letting out a loud whine, he slammed his fist against the bathroom door, letting his body just collapse to the floor. Izuku was unsure how he should go about helping his friend. His chest felt tight as he bit his cheek, feeling like someone had ripped the oxygen out of his lungs as it became harder to breathe.
Shaking his head to recollect himself, he walked over to his sobbing friend, leaning down to his level and scooping him up into a tight hug. Katsuki let out a surprised noise as he was embraced by the shorter green-haired male. He felt anger and annoyance build up inside of him as Izuku kept him in his grasp. He wanted to push him off. But at the same time at that very moment, he also felt safe. It disgusted him. The fact that he was feeling emotions he'd never experienced. And to feel them all at once? It pushed him over the edge as his mind began to overstimulate. Izuku brushed his fingers through Katsuki's ash-blonde hair, trying to comfort him.
"Kacchan, I need you to calm down... Take deep breaths, okay? Like this.." Izuku said, taking a deep breath and holding it for a certain amount of seconds before exhaling slowly. He was doing this in hopes Katsuki would follow, but then again, this is Bakugo we are talking about. To the greenette's surprise, Katsuki had his eyes closed as he listened to Izuku's light, slowed breathing. Following along as he began to calm down.
