You and your parents are setting up for your birthday, your tenth birthday; it was the most important one yet. While putting the napkins on the table you look over to the ground and see your presents. "Can I open one early?". Your parents laugh at each other and your dad starts bringing them into the attic so you don't get any ideas. "No" "wait for later Charlotte". You sighed and continued to set the table for all of your friends and family "fine, I'll wait for later" you huffed. When your dad came down the ladder he went over and whispered in your mom's ear. Not too sure what they were saying but it didn't matter, all you could think about were the presents. After a few minutes of them discussing something under their breath they announced they would be going to the store and would be back shortly with food for the party. As soon as the door shut you ran to the attic, pulled the rope to let the ladder down and climbed up to retrieve your presents. I mean after all, they were your presents. When you got up there it was a bit gloomy and dust was filling the air, it trapped every and anything that entered. You searched for a nice six minutes before you found them. Once you did you started to unravel the bows on each box and tear away the wrapping paper in such fashion that it would come out in one piece instead of several. You got so carried away with all of the gifts that whenever you saw one box sitting quietly behind the rest you don't even think before you open it. The box wasn't fancy, it didn't have any colorful ribbon or wrapping paper, it was just a cardboard box that was confined in a blanket of dust, that didn't change anything about it to you. 'Maybe it was just so good that as soon as they saw it they had to buy it and maybe they bought it a few months ago and just forgot to wrap it', either way it looked like it was meant for you so you opened it. The dust flew everywhere like it was some ancient being. But when you noticed dozens of missing kids posters you finally realized why you don't look like your parents.
