I start walking down the school hallway to find my to the year 7 orientation day for the first day of high school. "Hey Bailey." I hear from behind me. "Hey Alexander." I say without turning around. "Do you know where are going." I stuttering as my nerves get worse. "Yeah I do," Alex says "I have two older brothers I think I know what I'm doing." I giggle "Yeah isn't one in year 12?" I say holding my books tightly. "Yeah he is, Also put your books in your bag. Dyspraxia is not your friend remember." He puts my book into my bag.
We walk down to the gymnasium and take our sets. I lean towards Alexander and whisper, "I hope I make some new friends this year. You're the only person I know. Besides that dude that kinda obsessed with me last year." "That dude oh my god. Didn't he tell your step cosin that your his girlfriend." Alex laughs. "Yeah he totally did."
More people walk in. I start to panic a little. "It's going to be ok be be." Alex says rubbing my back. He can sense when I'm getting anxious. He's the only person that dose.
Teachers have described me as the shy and quiet one. Only in the last year of primary school is when I started to come out of my shell. I did make a few new friends. I have known Alexander for 3-4 years at this stage. We are inseparable. I'm kinda scared to leave his side. Im scared to be alone.
The presentation plays for us new year 7s.
Alexander and I walk out with our time tables. We compare. We have all the the same classes. "I heard the maths teacher is a really nice, english teacher doesn't like her job so you can get away with a lot of stuff. History teacher is very strict. Pdhpe she's the most normal teacher here. German teacher who knows like 75% of the time she's not there or drunk. Everyone passes German because of that" Alex says
We walk to our first period of pdhpe. "Let's hope your dyspraxia doesn't play up." Alex says patting my head. "You know I can have a get out of jail card because of that with sport." "True." "She will not say any due to me having a literal disability." We giggle on our in the class. We sit in the back of the room. The teacher walks in. "She's ugly" Alex says whispering in my ear. I just ignore what he says. The teacher starts the lesson. The teacher walks up to me. She taps on my desk. I look up. "can I speak to you outside." "Sure," getting out of my seat.
"So I have have read that you have dyspraxia." "Yeah I do. Some days I do use a walking cage or even a wheelchair." "Ok, I'll try and make sure the practical lessons more easier for you to try to get involved. My son also has dyspraxia as well."
The bell rings for home time. I walk out to the gate. Alex taps me on the shoulder. "Are you walking or are you getting picked up Be be" "Walking today." "I'll walk you home just in case your legs lock up." "Thanks" I smile. We walk to my house and walk.
"Hey beach." I hear my auntie yell. Alexander laughs. "Oh, is this your boyfriend?" Auntie Flora say putting her hands on her hips. "No but if it was it would probably last longer then your last two marriages." I say giving her a smirk. "Yeah true. You know I'm only doing it for the money." She walks off. Alexander turns to me. "Oh, that's the crazy auntie." "Not it's not. It's auntie Brooklyn that's crazy. Anyway want some snacks and want to watch a movie after dinner." "Sure I do have to tell my parents I will be here till 10pm." "Ok, also my parents will be home from work in like 20 minutes." "I know your parents don't care about me being here. Mine not so much. Just because you're a girl." I turn around "We have know each for 4 years and not once have we felt romantic." I say loudly throwing down my bag. "Haha. I do." I look at Alex "Hey don't look at me like I have done something around." "I just wasn't expecting you to say that." I turn to walk to the kitchen. "Sorry." He says. "It's ok."
