It begins in a village called operose, where superstitions regin and science is nothing but false claims to them. No one believed in science and medicine over there, except a physician named Dr. Harry Brown. He was a father of two lovely girls and a supportive husband of a crippled wife. Who apparently believes that her condition is a result of her wrong doings to a dog. She abused a dog when she was young by tying its legs to a rock.
No matter how much harry tried, he could not make mary understand that she was not responsible for her condition.
Well Dr. Brown believed that superstitions are related to two things mainly, imagination and guilt. See every soul is guilty of something small or something big. This guilt reframes our minds to analyze and justify that guilt, so that we can feel less guilty and in order to achieve, imagination becomes the enabler. Imagination creates superstitions and incidence makes people believe in them. Well there are other things that enables superstition to thrive such as fear.Where as science is nothing but facts, experimentally proven facts. Science can provide logic that can help some people with guilt and fear.
Superstitious people are attracted to superstitious objects.
Dr.Brown understood this and used this in order to make people come to him for treatment, and his object was stethoscope. Those village people had never seen any equipment so Dr. Brown introduced the stethoscope as God's ears. He told people that "this object can make God hear their heart's and soul's desires, fears and problems and then he will give you the strength that you need to have a fruitful life." The treatment given by Dr. Brown gave them strenght and health. These white lies were good at the beginning, people where healthier and positive but this was just a temporary thing.
Later when people fully accepted Dr.Brown and his treatment, he started educating people. He began with the leader of the village, Mr. Thomsan. They became good friends and Dr. Brown explained his treatment and everything with proves and logic. Superstitions are misguided chain of logic. He just had to give them proper proves and guide their minds towards science.
After the leader he started teaching to young children as they will grasp more about science then the elders. Soon later the village where superstition thrived was then taken over by science.
Dr. Brown did what he did because he was a father. A father would do anything and everything to give their kids the life they think its best for them.
Within 5 years, though a long journey, he was able to finally give his daughters a home where people are not feared or misguide but are strong and knows how to live a life gratefully.
Later when his wife saw the paradise that her husband created, how he helped people over come thier fear an guilt, she was able to let go of her guilt and accepted her condition and was able to be grateful for the life she had.
A father gave this village a healthy and grateful lifestyle.
