Ch.3 Rumors

Miyako POV

It was a nice day when I suddenly got a call from my editor.

"Heyyy Miyako, sooo I'll be coming over later to talk about your manga" sang the voice on the other end of the line.

"O-ok Maeno-san, when would you like to come by?" I asked.

"Hmm, I'll be there around two o'clock" came his response.

"Alright, I'll be waiting," I said.

"Ok, see you then!" he said, then hung up. I looked at the clock, it was only ten in the morning so I decided to go to the store to restock some supplies and get some snacks Maeno likes. I was in the art supply store when I saw Chiyo-chan. She was with someone though I couldn't make out his face, the person was tall and slim, he looked like the athletic type though I couldn't be sure. His voice was low and sultry, and the way he talked to Chiyo it seemed like they knew each other very well. Suddenly two thoughts came to me at once: No.1 were these two dating? And No.2 I'll be late if I dont get home right now! The first thought would have to wait for later, I needed to get home.

The time was 1:48 and I had just finished putting away my shopping when the doorbell rang. Maeno-san and Ken-san came into my house, I offered tea Ken-san politely refused and his counterpart Maeno accepted. I put on the kettle then returned to the seating area where the two editors were currently seated.

"So have you spoken to Yumeno recently?" Maeno asked, breaking the silence.

"Only in passing" I answered slightly worried.

"Hmmm" Ken-san hummed brow furrowing.

"Why? Is something the matter" I said, my nerves getting the better of me.

"It's just that he seemed different when we went to see him today," Maeno answered honestly.

"He looked terrible! Not to mention how moody he seemed to be" Maeno stated matter-o-factly.

"Moody?" I questioned.

"Yes, any time Chiyo-san was mentioned he seemed evasive and agitated. Did something happen between them?" Ken spoke up.

"Come to think of it, any time I've seen him recently he's been on his own and all down in the dumps" I recalled.

"That's odd, usually one of his assistants is over" Ken-san pointed out.

"Wait! I remember, a little less than a month ago I saw him and Chiyo-chan talking in front of his apartment. I couldn't hear what was being said but it clearly upset Chiyo because she ran away. I could tell he wanted to go after her but the damage had already been done. After that anytime I've seen him he looks like he's been crying" I said.

"So they did have a fight," Maeno exclaimed.

"This is not good," Ken said, an increasing look of dread crossing his face.

"I didn't think you'd care this much Ken-kun," Maeno stated, clearly surprised.

"Chiyo-san is an amazing beta artist, not to mention her input makes Let's Love more appealing to the readers and an argument could affect Yumeno's ability to write happy stories the whole thing could end up a depressing mess. The manga will, in all likelihood, suffer without her" Ken said, the impact of his words weighing heavy on everyone.
