Chapter one - The beginning

...

One month earlier.

"Let's go pirates let's go!... Let's go pirates let's go!..."

The gym was going crazy. It was my school the east side pirates against the north dale bull dogs.

"Ari! Hey Ari! Come sit by us!" I looked over and saw the two "princesses" of the school no sign of the queen b though.

"Hey crystal hey Jas."

"Hey. Didn't you come in with James and your brother?" They have a crush on them. I don't understand how or why. I guess I don't see what they see.

"Umm yeah" I said looking for them. They probably are checking out the cheerleaders and my little cousin Lisa. This is her first game cheering and she was nervous all day.

It was now half time. I sort of felt uncomfortable sitting with them because I know it's a matter of time before the other evil one comes.

"Hey Ari!" I looked behind me and saw Amber. Who is the evil one I was referring to.

"Hi" I gave her a little wave just to be nice. Even though the smile on her face was very well played.

"um you are friends with Tj right?"

"No I'm friends with James who is friends with Tj." Tj is the boy every girl wants to be with. Wants to change. My brother and my best friend James are best friends with him and I can not stand him. Sure he is a beautiful human to stare at but he was just way too cocky for me.

"So they are friends like they are really close?"

I just stared at her. Did I not just say that?

"Can you give him this for me?" I looked down at her hand and in it was a piece of paper.

"To James?" I cocked my head to the side.

She rolled her eyes at me. "No to Tj"

"I don't even know him. Give it to him yourself" I turn back around. I didn't even notice the game was almost over.

"Come on Ari! You are friends with James and I know your brother knows him also"

I looked at her then to crystal then to Jas who were all staring at me. Ugh I should have never sat down here.

"Great..." I took the paper "I'll make sure he reads in."

"Thanks girl" she smiled at crystal and Jas.

...

"Defense. Defense. Defense." The crowd shouted.

"Pirates steal the ball! And there goes Tj O'Brien for the Three! Annnnnd in it goooes ladies and gents! Another win for the pirates!"

Everyone went wild. All the girls ran up to the boys who scored the most points in tonight's game. I wanted to gag.

...

"Yo that was awesome son!" James said giving dap to Tj

"Naaaahh it was mother freaking greatness" see what I mean? The cockiness does not end.

"My dudes.. you ready to head out?" Bryan my brother by the way asked Tj and James.

"What about Lisa?"

"Auntie Jane picked her up"

We started walking to the parking lot.

"Bye boys" amber, crystal and Jas said all together.

"I'm going to miss seeing you play football next year James" Crystal said while rubbing his arm up and down.

"Well I'll still be around so you can see me whenever you want." He smirked at her. James loves getting attention form girls.

I just laughed and kept walking.

"What? I was being nice I can't help it that ladies' love James." He put his arm around me and I felt the death stares they were giving me on my back while we walked to the car.

"So Ari what did you think of my winning shot?" Tj smirked at me. He thought I was going to praise him or something.

"hmm I wouldn't know. I didn't see it." I lied and smirked when I saw his expression change. He looked back at me and made the are you serious face.

"Oh yeah! Here" I gave him the letter Amber gave to me. But right when he was about to grab it James snatched it out my hand.

"What is this! A love letter from Ari?"

"Please. Like I would ever write him a love letter."

James cleared his throat and started talking in a "girl" voice.

"Tj you are maaad cute and it's about time that me and you get to know each other on a serious level. So at Friday nights party come and meet me in my backyard. - Amber"

"Dude! Who the heck is Amber? And why is she writing you when I'm the better looking out of the two of you."

"Yeah right. When was the last time you even got laid?" Bryan asked in a mocking tone.

James didn't say anything I think he was too deep in his thoughts trying to remember when he actual got some.

Bryan laughed "So are we going to the party?'

"of course we are" James said finally snapping out of it.

"Ariana?" they all looked at me.

"Nope got plans"

"With who?" James and Bryan said at the same time.

"Danny."

"Ari... Ari wake up. Wake up Ari!"

I sometimes hate that James is always at my house. Him and my brother have been best friends for ever. I sort of joined the friendship in middle school. He hates being home and if you ask him why he'll say "my parents don't understand me." He's parents look like complete nerds and if you were to see them standing together in a family portrait you'd think James didn't belong there.

"Ari I know you hear me!"

I just want to sleep and be late for school. Why is he bothering me!

I felt something wet on the side of my face.

"Wake up of i'll lick you again.. With more spit."

"I'm.going.to.kill.you." I said with my eyes still closed.

"Hey do you think she's talking her sleep?"

Bryan started laughing " no i think you should run and fast."

"Oh shit."

he took off running when he saw me about to tackle him to ground. I sprung up so fast and chased him outside. I didn't even care that I was only in my big NYC Giants tee shirt. Once i caught up to him I started choking him.

"You nasty son of a gun! I don't know where your nasty ass tongue has been!"

"It's...been...in...Crystal's...Va-"

"Shut.The.Hell.Up."

When i was lifted off the floor.

"Let me go! He's still awake!"

James started coughing.

"Let it go sis... let it go" Bryan said dragging me back inside the house.

"Fine. I won't choke him anymore."

He put me down and James started laughing on our way back upstairs. I tripped Him and he fell flat on his face.

Bryan smirked "Nice one" I smiled and went back to my room for some more sleep.
