A disturbed rustling came from inside a bedroom.  BRIIIING BRIINNGGGGG! A roar of rage emerged from underneath a messed up doona as the person inside snatched her phone.

"WHAT IS IT ALASIE?!" A girl tossed her head above blankets angrily and looked at the smartphone.

She appeared to have wavy bright blonde hair, an oval-ish head, pale skin, thin lips, and green-orange eyes. The pyjamas she was wearing were bright and filled with teddy-bears.

"What's wrong Chrissie is that you didn't even do a shit for Ene's birthday present and it's due today!" A firm voice travelled through the phone as it reached Chrissina's dumbfounded ears. She pursed her lips firmly listening to Asalie's words very carefully.

Chrissina dashed out of the bedroom, still in pyjamas and raced over to her mother. "Mum can I go to the Sunday market to get some stuff for Ene? It's her birthday today and I don't have anything for her..." She walked ashamed of herself into the marble-decorated kitchen. Her mother was a tall woman with dirty blonde hair tied up in a bun above her shoulders.

"No dear because you need to keep on practising to summon your familiar next week for YOUR birthday." Gabrielle sighed, tired enough just making breakfast. Chrissina froze. If I don't get her a present she'll be so upset that she won't take me to the capital of Astria with her in two weeks time!

Chrissina stomped heavily outside, into the wet, dewy grass. She grabbed a special stone and started to carve an average-sized purple sigil. She retraced it over and over making sure it was perfect first try.

Chrissina had to preform a ritual to summon a familiar... Every person with a witching family had to summon one at the age of 16. A familiar is part of your soul, so it should reflect your personality and what-not.

She had a beautiful large cottage like house which was poised on a slope about a kilometer away from the lake. The wood was in natural colours which had not been painted yet. A few kingfishers swooped by- looking for prey on the go.

They were surrounded by a marvellous boreal forest that covered the area in lush green which spread like amazing overgrowth over the valley. Fields of wildflowers covered the bare clearings in aesthetic delight to all the animals occupying the area.

"Chriss! Can you help me with my magic?" Her little brothers whine echoed through his bedroom open window. Chrissina poked her head through his window, making him flinch. "Right, wadya need Speirce?" Might as well help since I have nothing else to do.

"I can't make a stupid fire in the STUPID JARRRR...ARGGGHHHHHHH" Speirce groaned and slammed his head onto the spruce desk he was sitting at. Chrissina rolled her eyes, Oh well, if I teach him he'll stop annoying me.

"Okay, so you need to make sure you can feel you channelling your energy. Usually our powers are connected to our emotions, mum can do it on command regardless and I can only do it when I'm having certain feelings." Boredness was probably chucked in her voice somewhere but Speirce could definitely tell she didn't want to teach him.

He started to scrunch up his creamy face real hard and small sparks sprout from his hands.  As soon as the tiniest fire started, it shrunk back into his skinny hands. Speirce shot a deathening glare at Chrissina.

"You're forcing it"

"No I'm not!"

"Believe what you want to believe, ya know emotions are supposed to flow like a river- rivers are natural."

"Seriously? We're talking about rivers now?"

"I can go dump you in the lake next time it's winter, stop complaining and trust my advice."

"Fiiine"

His bedroom had posters strung up with the latest trending rockstars and what-not. Under his desk in the back corner wass a pile of gum he had been hiding from their parents. Speirce was obviously getting more frustrated by the second as Chrissina watched him carefully.

Chrissina popped out of the window again and took a lengthy stroll down the lake path. Multiple squirrels scurried busily down the dirt pathway, preparing for winter. The sun blazed heavily onto her freckled skin as she strode down with even steps in her bright blue converse's (shoes).

Chriss pasted by a few hedgehog dens and maybe some bird nests while walking down the stone pathway, already knowing the way to the local lake. The lake was partly artificial, having black sand and smooth brown placed at the bottom of the lake and a filter for it so the salt would stay in, and dirt would go bye-bye.

She finally reached to the clearing and saw the dazzling lake that shimmered between the grey mountains. Chriss shook off her shoes and danced to the swallows songs in the shallow ankle-high water. She laughed so hard that she clutched her stomach and calmed down on a large boulder which was the perfect sitting spot.

Dark clouds flooded the sky like wildfire and bucketing rain cascaded from those heavy clouds. Drops of water patted down onto Chrissina, who was embracing the falling water. She looked up into the grey sky, wondering if to go home or not.

A gloomy dark shape appeared in the depths of the murky water. A ghoul -shape ris from the water with dull eyes facing Chrissina as she had already turned away and had started the journey home. She arrived back at her cozy home, took her converse shoes off the veranda and wiped her feet before going inside.
