"Connor! Where is my brush?!" I yelled, fumbling with my tooth brush.
"Find it your self!" My younger brother yelled. I sighed, stomped out of the bathroom, and walked into my oldest brothers room.
"Give it Logan," I said staring at him laying on the bed.
"Give you what?" He asked rolling over to face me.
"My brush! I have a dance competition today and I can't be late!" I practically yelled.
"Go ask Darin," he said and shut his eyes again.
"Ugh!" I grunted and walked out of his room.
I walked into my little brothers room. "Give me my brush," I said, gritting my teeth.
"Make me," he said.
"I swear little boy I will take you down before you know what hit you. If you don't give it to me I will call Auntie Sarah and tell her to bring Stephie over," I said, still gritting my teeth.
"Fine." He handed me my brush and I stormed out of his room.
Welcome to my life. Hello, my name is Vanessa Marie Blue. I am seventeen. I have three brothers. The oldest is Logan. He and I are the closest. He is eighteen. Then there is me. I'm seventeen. Then there's Connor. He's fourteen. Then there's Darin. Oh, Darin. He's ten. And my dad is the only parent in the house. Most of the time he's traveling or at work. We've learned to deal with problems ourselves.
Logan has a car. And then my dad has a car. And then I have a car. I have my own room. Thank goodness for that. Darin and Connor share a room.
I brushed my brown tangly hair and put it in a tight bun. Then I put all my make up on. I usually don't wear make up, but I will say that mascara makes my hazel eyes pop out.
I went back to my room and got on my hip-hop uniform since that will be the first performed dance. I'm in hip-hop, jazz, and lyrical. I also love softball.
I went downstairs. I'm surprised that my dad is already gone. It's only seven. I made myself a protein shake as fast as I could and drank it.
As soon as I got to the locker room that my team was changing in my best friend, Laura, rushed over to me.
"Hey!" She said. She couldn't say anything else because our coach came in.
"Hey guys! We perform in five! Come on!" We followed her out the door and went into the gym. I saw many teams there.
Before I knew it, we were standing there, ready to perform.
"Now welcome the MakenVille hip-hop team dancing to Fancy."
The speaker said and our song boomed over the loud speakers.
We totally nailed the performance, right on every move. I was so happy.
That night I got home around six. Logan had to work tonight. I went right upstairs to change, then went down and sat at the table with Dad, Darin, and Connor.
Once my dad got off the phone he said,"Where have you been all day? I came home from lunch and you weren't here!" He sounded angry.
"If you would have looked at the calendar, you would have seen that I had a dance competition today. Oh, and thanks for supporting me like you promised you would last week," I said and went up to my room.
I wasn't surprised that he didn't come. He never does. He always promises, with everything and everyone, but never comes. Then asks where we've been and its just...sad. He never does anything for us. Oh and he's forgot our birthdays three years in a row now.
I sat down at my desk and opened my computer. I had to finish my online lesson. Most people in MakenVille take online classes. Some ride the three hour car ride to get to school everyday, but not many.
I heard a knock on my door. "
What?" I asked and Logan came in with a piece of pizza.
"I thought you might want this," he said.
I moved and sat down on my bed. He sat down beside me and I leaned my head on his shoulder.
"How was competition? Did you place?" he asked.
That was the thing about Logan. He always cared and asked if he couldn't come. He was my biggest supporter of the family. All of us tried to support each other in activities and sports, but we couldn't always do that.
"Lyrical we got second, and jazz and hip-hop we got first," I said and took a bite of the pizza.
"Good job!" he said.
"Thanks. You have a football game tomorrow night right? And Darin has a soccer game?" I asked.
"Yeah. Can you go to the soccer game? I have to work and Connor has baseball practice," he asked me.
"Yeah, but you have to go to his game on Wednesday. I have to work." I told him. Logan and I work because we like to buy the younger kids and each other presents for birthdays and we like to take the younger ones out for ice cream.
"Got it. So are you coming to my game?" he asked.
"Yeah I will." I said and finished up my pizza.
"Alright. Goodnight!" He said and walked out of my room.
"Goodnight." I said and got up. Time to put Darin to bed.
After I put him to bed, I checked my grades for the semester.
Math: A
Biology: B+
History: A-
English: A
Geometry: BI guess we are lucky. We only have to take five classes. I have to get my B's up. My dad doesn't like B's. Only A's. Once Connor got a C and he was grounded until he worked it up to an A.
I closed my computer and walked over to my bed. I laid down and shut my eyes. Tomorrow will be a long day.
