Akaza watched (Y/N), doing everything he could to calm his nerves. The blood in his veins were raging, his thoughts going far too fast for him to comprehend what was happening.

There she sat, knees curled up against her chest as silence fell between them once again. She sat there, staring at the flames as if what she said never even happened.

While he... he didn't know what to make of it.

How could she say those things? How could she state such simplicity, while it complicated practically everything for him?

He had to—had to change the subject. For he didn't know how long he could control himself, or keep whatever was burning inside of him from exploding out of him—

"Akaza," she said, and his stomach flipped with the way his name rolled off of her tongue. He fought his shudder.

"Mm?"

She looked towards him, her features highlighted under the warm firelight. "What is a demon slayer?"

He stared at her. Well, that sure was not what he was expecting.

Akaza tilted his head, eyebrows raising. "You caught onto that, then?"

Her mouth twisted to the side in thought, her knees being brought up closer to her chest. "Your master—he said he had a demon slayer he had to take care of. That was why he couldn't test me further."

Smart girl.

Akaza hesitated, debating on his mind whether it would truly be worth it to indulge in the other enemy demons had. The one all too different from the sun.

"Demon slayers—are humans," he began, and she straightened. "They are your kind. They hunt us, and kill us off. In a way, we've been at war with them for quite some time now."

"There are other humans who are aware of demons?" she asked, surprise altering her voice.

Akaza nodded, looking away from her inquisitive gaze. "Humans have been aware of our existence since the beginning. They despise us—for killing their kind. For destroying families."

The assassin didn't say anything, simply analyzing his words.

He probably should have shut up by now, but he felt that she somehow needed to know. For her own sake. "They use a special blade to kill us, since no mortal weapon can get the job done. I've... killed quite a bit of your kind over the years."
