June 10th, 1999

Cane lowered his head in submission, his teeth clenched as he growled in a low grovel. The blood of Zuri painted the grass, while Cane's blood dripped from my claws. I had killed the Alpha and there for taken his place. When the moon arises, we will eat from his flesh and a new dawn will be born. The sun will rise and as it does, I will be the new leader of this territory. The alpha of this pack and the ruler of all the humans inhabiting my land. Cane wanted what I had, but I was far greater than he. Slowly, he shifted back to his human form, the hair on his flesh shedding into a blanket on the ground.

"Alpha", he acknowledged in a bitter tone, baring his neck in a show of surrender. I growled in approval to his renounce, shifting back to my flesh. My fur becoming one with the earth once more, a slight breeze twirled in the air cooling my skin drenched in blood, sweat and dirt. "Beta", I stated loud and clear, so that my pack would see who would become my second in command. He did not like me; we weren't comrades nor amicable. But what he was, was the second strongest in this pack and the rightful beta to our people.

The lycan's of the late Zuri were turning old, their rank dropping in rapid depletion. The problem with killing an alpha means; those below him either die with honor at their rank, or you submit in cowardice, to live out your remainder days on the other side of the valley. His beta Trent backed away with hushed steps, not even the grass beneath his feet made a sound. He bares his neck to me in cowardice and I snarled at his weakness. A pack is only as strong as its weakest member and in my eyes, he didn't deserve to live.

But pack law saved his life.

Zuri's third in command died by my hand, because of his intervening into my challenge. He tried but failed to protect his alpha. Dakota died in honor as a gamma and will be remembered in the archives as a fierce warrior. Oliver, Zuri's delta fled the moment his alpha's body dropped to the earth. He like the beta cowered away to save their lives and, in that choice, they will die unknown and forgotten. This was my time to rule, fix our weaknesses, thrive in business and truly utilize the humans down below the mountain. This was my chance to show the other packs around our nation that West Point wasn't meant to be fucked with.

Zuri was old and weak while living in the dark of the old age. I was about to change it all, from allowing banned items, to bringing in new age technology. The days of living in the dirt like a cave dweller are over. I glowered over my pack, all showing respect and submission to the new leader. Lycan's and Lyca's of my generation looked to me for the future. It's time we lived like kings and queens above the people, it's time to pave my legacy.

Because when I die, everyone will remember my name.
