Gustave Caillebotte (1848-1894) was an impressionist painter and patron. His father, a wealthy entrepreneur, acquires a country residence in Yerres in 1860 and began to beautify the adjoining park, develop into massive and increasing the surface of his garden. When he finished his law studies in 1870, Gustave Caillebotte began to paint his first landscapes during summers spent on the property: in a decade, there are more than 80 paintings on the theme park or recreation associated with it. Now located in the heart of the city of Yerres the Caillebotte property is a place of relaxation and a great culture (exhibitions).
This property with its English park-landscaped, its vegetable garden is an invitation to travel through time and space. The organization of these gardens which each part is a scene highlighting a different emotion, is to focus on the expression of feelings. For those impressions, plant species mingle with artificial elements (bridges, rocks) and factories, buildings dotting the garden and enrich the romantic scenes.
