RAINY WEATHER CAME hand in hand with winter, similar the way rainy weather went hand in hand with Liv feeling as if the grey clouds outside were actually right above her head. When she felt like this, the common room was the first place she wanted to be. She'd lay in her bed for a moment hoping that just maybe one of the girls would be awake too - but when she had no luck, she'd slip on her thick, fluffy socks and wrap her blanket around her tight to block out the cold. She'd tiptoe across the room, careful not to step on the wooden slacks she knew would make a loud creak, before opening the door with just as much care. When she finally reached the common room it was always the same couch - the big red one right infront of the fire, in the sitting spot furthest from the right. Sometimes, if she was lucky, the fire would still be slightly ablaze meaning she'd have something fun to stare at, and something to keep her warm. But this time, it wasn't.This time she hadn't been in bed. She hadn't had to creep past her sleeping friends, or slip through the door so she wouldn't wake them, for they weren't even there.
For the first time ever, Liv Black was feeling lonely at Hogwarts.
Harry had excused himself to do homework up in the boys dormitory, fearing Liv was being too distracting with her non-stop talking (as per), but any moment now he'd be back down so they could fail at yet another dementor lesson with Remus.
Except, Liv wasn't going to join Harry today with the lesson - or any day for that matter. She'd had enough. She'd had enough of this 'trauma' she was being forced to re-live. She couldnt take it anymore and it was the reasoning behind her sudden, foul mood.
"Liv?"
Harry had appeared and was standing in front of her, but Liv had been too deep in thought to notice. "Oh... hiya, Harry,"
"Are you ready to go? I really think today's the day, maybe a little more practice but we'll get there, i know it,"
"I dont think im going to go," Liv said flatly.
"What?" Harry said, defeated, all sense of excitement suddenly draining from his tone. "Why not?"
"I already told you. I thinks it's ridiculous were even around these creators, let alone needing to defend ourselves. It's not like we're guilty, we haven't committed any crimes or killed anybody! I think it's stupid. I don't want to do it anymore,"
"Oh, alright then," Harry frowned, his eyebrows cresasing. "I guess i'll see you later then?"
Liv gave a small nod. Harry turned on his heel and paced forward a few steps towards the portrait hole before turning straight back around, frowning even harder.
"I'll tell professor lupin youre too stubbon to come, or shall i leave that to you?"
Liv leaped off the couch in annoyance, the blanket that had been wrapped around her falling to the ground with a small thud. "You don't get it!"
"I do get it" Harry replied."You don't like whatever goes on in your mind when the dementors come near. I completely get it - you think i want to keep hearing my parents dying? Of course not, but i dont use that as an excuse to give up,"
"Im not giving up!" Liv argued back."I already told you-"
"Forget it, Liv. ive got to go... im going to be late,"
Liv was left alone in the common room once more. The silence was beginning to become unbearable, especially as the only noise she could hear was Harry's words repeated themselves in her mind. Liv debating giving in, and head down to the Defence Agaisnt The Dark Arts classroom and pretend this all never happened.
She sighed, swinging her legs off the couch she'd since collapsed back on. She was still barefooted, in her pajamas, still with her hair un-brushed and un-washed in a messy bun plopped on the top on her head, but still clambered through the portrait hole nonetheless.
