"And this one? Do you think it's plain?" I asked my brother, feeling unsure about the burgundy dress I had on. There were a few frills in the fabric which lined the abdomen, and the skirt of the dress in many lines, going from the waist down to the bottom of the skirt.

Standing in front of me examining the dress, my brother stood with an arm over his chest, the other propped by the elbow on the arm as he leaned back a bit. Releasing an unsatisfied tsk, he shook his head. "I think everything in this store is rather plain," he said.

Wincing, I nodded my head to the person behind him, his eyes widened in realization as the person cleared their throat. He turned to see an older woman who had her glasses on the tip of her nose, with platinum gray hair, and her arms crossed as she tapped her foot on the hardwood floor.

"Is what I said of the previous establishment we'd just come from," my brother stated, offering a charismatic smile to the old woman. She didn't say anything, instead she raised an eyebrow and walked away, holding her judgements to herself but showing them in her demeanor.

"I sometimes wonder if you can make a situation worse, and just when I think you can't," I stopped myself as laughter broke through my lips. My brother shook his head at me, rolling his eyes as he crossed his arms over his chest. "Just when I think you can't, you prove otherwise."

"Oh piss off you twat," Y/B/N said, turning to sit on the sofa a few steps behind him.

My laughter continued, I went to the dressing room behind me, taking off the dress as I put on another which my brother had actually pointed out.

"So," my brother called from the couch, "About this party..."

After a few seconds of silence I called back, "What of it?"

"I think it would be best if you stayed near to either Father, myself, or Y/S/N only if she's with Mr. Hawthorne."

"Why would that be?" I shook my head in confusion, though he couldn't see my reaction.

"I'd feel better if you did is all. Stay near to a man, don't get too tipsy and ensure that you're aware of your surroundings." His voice silenced for a while, most likely as he was in search of what more to say of his suggestions. "I don't get a good feeling from the family."

"So you've said before," I retorted.

"I'm only looking out for you, Y/N," he said from the sofa. I rolled my eyes, knowing that he disliked the family long before he even met them. And from what he's told me, he has no reason to actually dislike the family as the 'evidence' he spoke of was simply lip from Ms. Mary Bonneville, the gossiping old woman. "I-" Y/B/N paused, "I overhead Alexei... In the factory, it didn't seem good, but highly suspicious."

I pulled the curtain back, stepping out in the new dress, it being similar in shape and style of the previous one, only it was a type of mint green shade all through.
