Birthday

Who on earth celebrates his wife’s birthday with only a wish and nothing else? If anybody asks me this question I will tell my husband’s name” Jisoo  let out her frustration in front of her colleague.

Previous day was her birthday. Jungkook, husband of Jisoo , wished her at 12 o clock. No cake, no party, no dinner and no gift. Nothing. This was not the first time. It had been three years since they got married. Three birthdays had come so far, three times Jungkook had done the same, a wish with a hug and kiss. Before her marriage, her parents and friends used to celebrate the day lavishly. She used to feel so special. She loved those parties. But, now it was upside-down.

She expected the same after marriage from her husband. But, it didn’t happen that way. This was her third birthday after marriage. Her frustration levels were shooting up. She shared her entire frustration with her colleague on next day of her birthday.

On that evening, she left office early than she would have. She was not in a good mood. She wanted to spend time alone. She knew that Jungkook was a lovely husband. She knew about his care, love and affection. But, this thing was only a black spot in a white paper.

She mulled over this thought for some time. At last, she found that only one thing would give answer to this question was Jungkook’s diary. She searched the cupboards and found the diaries. 2018 diary, 2019 diary and 2020 diary. They got married in 2018. She hesitated a bit before opening the diary. But her anxiety and intensity to know the reason got better off her hesitation.

She opened “January 3, 2018” page.

“Another day goes down as one of my favourite day of the year. This day is the birthday of my sweet heart. I never expected that I would get a beautiful, lovely wife like Jisoo . But, I got it. Thanks to my parents. She was the cure to my wound in past. I have been planning to celebrate this day as her memorable day ever. I have planned a trip to Hawaii . I have planned a balloon ride so that I could make her cut the cake in sky, where beautiful green mountains would be under our feet, cool breeze would be touching our faces, birds would be flying our side and a loud HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY LOVE shout from top would spread across the earth”

She stopped reading and she was wondering why he couldn’t implement the plan. She continued reading

“But, I had to drop my plan in the last minute. One of my friend called me one week back and told me about his daughter’s health condition. His daughter is three years old and she has a hole in the heart. Doctors asked him to deposit 30,000 dollars  for operation expenses. He gathered 20,000 dollars . He asked me the balance 10,000 dollars  and told me that he would repay within one year. Initially, I hesitated as I had kept this money for my love’s birthday celebrations. But, after thinking for two days, I gave him 10,000 dollar. Yesterday, doctors performed the operation and she was fine. I went to see the kid. I took her picture while she was smiling.

Doctors told me that the operation was done in time, otherwise it would be too late for them to save the child. My friend thanked me for saving his kid. I could see the happiness on the face of the kid and on the face of my friend, his wife and the whole family. I told them it was not me who saved the child, it was my love, Jisoo. Money belongs to her”

Tears were appearing in Jisoo’s eyes. Even two, three drops had fallen on papers.

“Saving a kid is the best birthday gift i could give to my love on her birthday. This is your birthday gift, Jisoo - A kid life, his smile, his future and his parents’ happiness, their two years happiness with their kid, their future happiness. But, I couldn’t tell you all this. I don’t know why. I only managed to wish you, hug you and kiss you. I love you Jisoo ”
