(A/N: I don't own Sword Art Online!)
I've always loved games.
I would play and conquer every game I could get my hands on-board games, family games, gambling games and then, I came across online games. I didn't really know about them at first, until I walked in on my father designing a virtual online game for his company. That introduced everything.
My father was a software designer. He was a great father, I loved him very much. But, a little tidbit about him is that he was albino. The pale skin, natural white hair but he didn't have red eyes like most albinos have; he had a deep, deep amethyst color. But, that's what made him unique, my mother once told me.
My mother is another story though; she was a computer engineer-so, I was all comfortable with technology. My mother is truly beautiful. She has long, silky black hair and deep sea-green eyes that always changed from a navy blue, to emerald and everywhere in between those two colors. She had a perfect body type and she looked very young in her 30's. Some people say I'm her spitting image, but I'm sure they wouldn't say that if they saw my left eye. I'll get to that later.
Anyway, because of my parents, I fell in love with technology. I loved messing around with the computer and all the codes on it. But, computers and games wasn't my whole life. I obviously had a family; including my older brother Hōjō.
Hōjō was a guy that was about a year older than me. He had dad's white hair and mom's sea-green eyes and tried to protect me for all his worth. He even joked with me that it was his mission in life to protect me. He had a girlfriend to, I don't remember her name quite well, but I did meet her once. She was pretty and liked games like I did. They have been together for about two years. Hōjō and I definitely started to grow apart when I found online games, that's for sure.
I went to school and I was taking Kendo for years. I was one of the best in my dojo. The same dojo that my mother and father practiced at-that's how the met apparently. They were both taking Kendo at my age and they both started to fall for each other, or so my mother says. I also loved archery. I taught myself how to shot a bow and arrow and fell in love with it as soon as I got the hang of it.
Anyway, once I learned of online games, I don't think I've ever became more obsessed with games in my life. I beat every game I played, but I learned quickly that I had some changes to the way I played. I couldn't be me. I mean, I couldn't be a girl. I got judged because of gender and no one gave me a chance to prove myself-to prove I could top them all with one blow. I'm arrogant, yes, but I have good reason. I was better than them; my stats were higher than all of theirs. But I never got the chance to prove it.
So, I changed that. I used a male avatar. Now, you might be annoyed or even disgusted at my choice for doing so. I don't care. I was able to be accepted like that. I know, I sound weird by saying that. I know there are some guys online that do accept girls online, but there is many more that don't accept it. So, I did male avatars for most of the online games I played and won. As a male, no one judged me like they did when I was a girl. They judged me purely on my skills and I earned respect that way.
Soon, I began to enter and win small competitions, keeping myself anonymous all the way. The competitions weren't all that big and popular-maybe only twenty people would enter and the most prize money wouldn't go past 1,000. Like I said, they were small, but I would win them all.
And then, I applied to be a beta tester for a new virtual online game. It was called «Sword Art Online». And they accepted my application. I was one of the 1,000 beta testers and I made up to Floor 9. Not that impressive in my own opinion, but it took some getting used to-the being inside a game is what I mean. Once I started Sword Art Online, I became obsessed with it also. Once the months were up, I instantly signed up for a pre-order and purchased my own NerveGear.
