"So this is the same one on the paper; there's no difference between the two, right?"

"No difference." Ken nodded as he continued to fill out the application screen by screen; with one last click, he was done. Turning towards her,

"Now what?"

"Okay, so save it and then press print." I pointed toward the screen. He turned around, nodding, and began clicking on the mouse again. He heard the whirling of the printer on the desk near the wall between the desks of computers. I went over there to collect them, ensuring that everything was filled out so we could do so while we were still here if there was anything to fix or correct. I was checking the back of each paper as well.

"Don't log out or sign out yet, please. " I walked back over and set the application down near his arm.

"Let me see. Just check before we leave, okay?" I informed him as I stood near him, and he slid over to the bench he was sitting on, joining him on it.

While scrolling through the page, I saw no red words or asterisks on the screen. Make sure to save it once more, just for good measure, before shutting the computer off. I grabbed the small pieces of paper and ensured they were in order, friendly, and neat as I headed over to the smaller desk littered with various office supplies. Stapling the papers together. Turning to him, he was still sitting,

"Hey, come on. We're done here now."

He stood and slid his backpack onto his back again, sliding the bench under the computer desk, tapping his thighs, I guess, to be sure he still had what was in there.

He came closer to me, and we headed back into the hallway. We ended up back in the registrar's office again. He sat back in the same seat he was in when I first arrived.

"I'll be back," I told him as I went around the top counter and behind the wall where the school's computer was.

I entered all his information and printed what he would need going forward. Rejoining him back in the main room,

"Okay, I'm sorry, I didn't ask for your name. I just went into help mode, didn't I? What's your name? I'm Portia." He smiled as he stood, holding my hand and shaking it.

"Kentrell. Ken. Trell."

"Okay, I got it. Well, Kentrell, you are all set."

"What does that mean?" He asked as he turned, placing his bag on the seat and adding the printed application and the other papers I handed him in a new folder pile into his bag."

"It means your application is in the system now; I sent it directly to the financial aid office, so they have it and admissions. And because admissions received an email from this office, it is now official. You are now in school just as you wanted, and in the pile of papers are the curriculum and the classes you can take under your major to fulfill your credits for each semester and graduate on time, okay? Also, it may seem like a lot right now, but I'm in school here, too. I just started at the same time as you so that I can walk you through it, and I promise you, and I will walk across that stage together when the time comes. We both need to head to the ID office for our school ID pictures." I explained in great detail, and we went off again.

This time, we wouldn't be coming back to this office. Instead, we would be moving on to the bookstore next.
