Chapter 4

Salantro’s POV

I returned home to start preparing for my adventure. Athena and Artemis stayed behind, and went back toOlympus because there job was done here.

Now I can’t just go on my own, I’ll need some friendly companions. I went the opposite direction of my house to the farming fields where I found my good friend Caspian.

I tackled him to the ground, and we rolled around laughing trying to beat each other up. I pinned his arms down and sat on his legs. He relaxed his body, giving up. I loosened my grip to get off when in a quick movement Caspian had me in a headlock.

I tapped his arm, and he let me go chuckling.

“Hey Salantro, did you come over here just to let me kick your ass, or is there another reason,” he joked. I laughed humorously at my friend, and playfully pushed him. I explained the quest, and the whole demi-god thing. He listened intently; the best part about us being best friends is that we trust each other, and the fact that he already suspected that Athena and Artemis were Goddesses, which made the explanation so much easier.

He agreed to help without a second thought.

We went our separate ways to prepare for the long journey, and chose to leave at sunrise the next morning.

I kicked open the door of my small home; you can’t really call it a home though. This is where I grew up with my mom before she past away, all it has is sad memories. I sighed, and started pulling out items for tomorrow’s journey.  After getting everything ready I cleaned myself and went to sleep. I was totally tired because of the events today. I’ve always wondered who my father was; I would never have guessed it was Zeus himself.

I tossed and turned for a little while before finally drifting off…

A bright light hit my face, warming it up and trying to beak through my eyelids. I groaned as I heard the roosters sing that terrible wake up song. Every morning, seriously I am going to kill those damn roosters.

I reluctantly rolled out of bed, and sat at the end rubbing my eyes trying to wake up when I realized something. Oh shit its sunrise!! I am supposed to meet up with Caspian and leave. I started stumbling all over the room. I banged into several random objects, and groaned. In less than five minutes I am fully clothed and wearing m armor. It’s not big and heavy armor it’s actually really light. It’s made of Merrill, Hephaestus gave it to me as a gift, and I just have to put it under my clothes. It is really comfortable.

I met Caspian by the village’s gate. He sits patiently on his horse Marco, I give Amero a little kick and he speeds towards them.

“Good morning Caspian,” I say happily.

“Well took you long enough, did you say good bye to all the ladies in the village or something,” He joked merrily. I laughed and shook my head.

“It doesn’t matter anymore anyway, we should start heading out.” Caspian said and started galloping out of the village; I followed along, glancing back at my home one last time.

We were on the moves for hours. I’m not even walking and I’m exhausted. We walked a good 3 miles and it’s around noon.

“Perhaps we should take a break; allow the horses to rest don’t want them to die of exhaustion.” I said. Caspian nodded and pointed ahead to a small lake a couple kilometers ahead, “We should stop there and spend the night. It’s best that we don’t overwork the horses. Unless you want to walk on foot?” he smirked at his last sentence. I shook my head and we continued our way.

We set up camp when we got there; Amero and Marco looked relieved for the break. We caught some bass and lit a fire. We started to discuss how we we’ll go about with this, and looked at our map.

“This is easier then I thought it would be,” Caspian stated.

“The journey has only just begun, who knows what kind of things we will bump into.” I replied.

“Yeah, yeah.” He waved me off, “so where are we heading tomorrow?”

I pointed to a spot on the map.

“First we have to go toMeranadeIslandto get the map. Then we have to go toAthensto retrieve the thread to help lead us out of the Labyrinth.” I listed. “That’s at least a two or three week journey on horse and six or seven on foot,” Caspian noted, “Who knew questing took so long.” I chuckled at his statement. He has a talent to making boring and bad stuff sound humorous.

We headed out first thing the next morning. We went to Trahters village and got a boat, it was a two day sail toMaranadeIsland. Everything seems to be going well; it was an easy trip so far, looks like were getting lucky, or so I though. When we reached the island I knew that our lucky streak was going to change.
