<SEISHUN HIGH SCHOOL, TEZUKA POV>

I visit her every day I finish school, telling her what my day was like and how I want to become a professional tennis player. She always listens intently, never leaving her eyes off me and it makes me feel butterflies inside my stomach, I wasn't sure why they were there but it felt new to me. As I was packing my things away and head straight to the hospital, I was stopped by Fuji with a grin.

"Where are you heading off to every time after school, hm?" He asks, already catching up to my plans and I sigh, I can't hide anything from him. I explain to him about Aina, she insisted I call her Aina because it's weird as when her sister and mother are around, using their surname would just confuse us all so I agreed. I told him the first encounter I had with her and everything leading up until now, earning me a smirk from him.

"I'd love to meet her, she seems wonderful," Fuji replies and I nod, almost too scared to introduce him to her but he is my best friend. I didn't explain to him about her condition, it's only right for me to keep it between us and her family. When we arrive at hospital, I knock gently on the door and she calls for the go ahead so we enter and her eyes widen in surprise upon seeing Fuji.

"Whose this, Tezuka-san?" She asks me, tilting her head a little and Fuji smiles, walking in he introduces himself.

"I'm Fuji Syusuke, a close friend of Tezuka's," he says, smiling.

"Ah! I'm Tsunagi Aina, it's a pleasure!" She replies, smiling happily and Fuji nods, smiling as per usual as we talk about our day. Her mother and sister come in, the room a little more livelier than usual as her sister swooned over Fuji – much to Fuji's joy he liked it. I could see from the corner of my eye that her mother looked like she was about to cry from happiness upon seeing the smile on her daughters face and I couldn't help but look at Aina – her beautiful pale skin and her shining bright eyes says everything about my feelings; I'm in love. I would hate to admit it but... her presence and personality has made me realise I'm in love with this girl.

After sometime Fuji decided it was time to head home, I nod and agree. I bid good-bye to Aina, saying I'd come visit again tomorrow and she happily smiles, saying she can't wait. I might take her out somewhere nice, maybe to a small park and have a picnic perhaps, I wasn't sure yet but I'll have to give her a text and call tonight. When we left the hospital, Fuji speaks.

"You're in love, and don't deny it," he says, straightforwardly and I sigh, then with a slight nod he looks at me, his eyes smiling, "that's a first. I'm glad you finally found something else you love other than tennis," he says, jokingly and I frown at that. It's true, I only ever thought about tennis and that's it but upon seeing her on that day – I was glad I did or else I wouldn't have met such an amazing and beautiful soul.

When we parted ways, he bid me good luck and that if I ever needed any advice to ask him if ever. As soon as I got home, I finished dinner and bid good-night to my parents and grandpa then I rang Aina. It rang a couple times, thinking she was asleep I was about to hang up when she picks up.

"Aina-" I begin but all I heard was coughing and wheezing in the background, then a button was pressed and a buzzer was heard. I hear the phone drop then some shouts and machines beeping and I gripped my phone tightly in my hand, just what on earth is happening? I wanted to find out and I instantly put my shoes on, grabbed my bike and cycled to the hospital but before that I said I'm going to the grocery store to get something for my training. I cycled so fast, I felt the cold breeze blast through my face and once I reached the hospital, I hurriedly ran to her room.

Several people were inside, doing stuff to her I wasn't sure. I walked in but get stopped by a hand, it was Rika-san and Yui-san.

"There isn't any room for us to be in there – they said her heart began to rapidly beat fast for no reason and they're doing what they can to calm it down..." I could hear the tremble and shakiness of Yui-san's voice, then Rika-san asks why I'm here.

"I... I rang her, it rang a couple times so I was about to end the call thinking she fell asleep and then she picks up, all I heard was coughing and wheezing and I instantly rushed over," I say, out of breathe, was it my fault that she's like this? Did I startle her because of the phone call? I clenched my fists, blaming myself when I felt a warm hand touch mine.

"It's not the phone call, Tezuka-kun. A ring won't scare her because she knows you'd check up on her tonight, you do every night so she's prepared. It must have been something else," Rika-san assured me and I nodded, unclenching my fists we wait until they were done. One of the nurses come out and with a small sigh, she smiles.

"She's stable, the only cause we can find is that her heart rate just happened to jump up, usually this happens every now and then when a person with a heart condition like hers exists. We'll keep her monitored every night to assure you that she'll be fine. She's sleeping currently but once she awakes, she'll be fine," the nurse says and we thank her, bowing we go inside. I look at her angelic sleeping face; the way her chest heaves slowly up and down, showing us she's alive.

I sigh heavily, then with a gentle squeeze I grip her hand, gently lifting it up I kiss it, "I'll make sure your day tomorrow is a wonderful one," I whisper, I could see both her mother and sister look at me, awe and tears in their eyes and I bow, bidding them good-night as I said I'll come by tomorrow. Before I left, Yui-san hugged me.

"Thank you, for being there for her," she whispers and then pats me on the back, with a gentle smile I bow, making my way home. That night I couldn't sleep well, but I did in the end, looking forward to seeing her tomorrow once more.
