"Sis, get your bow and RUN!" A voice shouted from the distance, unmistakably my brother's. I got onto my knees, feeling for my weapon in the utter darkness. The situation was beyond hopeless. I knew I wasn't getting out of this alive. Why bother anyways? The very reason I've join the Special Defence—or SD, was to maybe get killed with some pride and dignity instead of cutting myself with some blade across my arm. I never intended to make it out alive anyways.
"What are you doing?! RUN!" My brother's voice sounded from the distance again, but suddenly, everyone had gone silent.
The tension was intolerable. His voice echoed around the cavern, gradually fading in the distance. I could hear everyone's breathing. Shallow, quick, exhausted from the fight. The battle was far from won, so why had we stopped?
After one... two... three seconds, a voice boomed out from the ceiling, startling us. I looked up, even if I knew it was useless, and stared.
"Greeting from Mars here. It might seem strange after years of discovery there still were no evidence that there were living creatures on Mars, but here we are." His voice was thick, loud and full of confidence. I wasn't exactly registering the content, but I did catch the point. Alien guys are here.
"We're not even actually from Mars, just a representative, but more on that later. Just a quick warning though, a terrorist attack is happening outside and their bomb will explode after five... four... three—"
My brother grabbed my arm and fled. It was a stampede. This sudden warning issued by some outer space guy seemed to quite have an impact on us. I stood there, looking out of the cave. Surprisingly, I wasn't scared. I felt an oddly sense of calmness. Well, let it take me, I thought.
Needless to say, the explosion was a majestic view and all of a sudden, the world exploded into a supernova. There was a blinding flashing light, more powerful than the human race had ever seen, and it was over. All of it. There was nothing left. Just a barren sphere spiralling in the Milky Way. People were running away, panicking about this sudden turn of effects.
Me? I sat down on the edge of the cliff, looking down the entire Earth. Once so full of life, lush, streams and forests, now a... well, rock.
