Chapter 41: Lacey

At the pawnshop, Henry and Julia were surrounded by Elaine, Neal, Emma, Katy, Daniella, Mary Margaret, David, Faye, Elsie, Kerr, Sebastian, Evangeline, Roxanne, Aimee and Mr Gold. Henry and Julia blew out eleven candles on their separate cakes and they cheered, clapping their hands.

Mr Gold leaned towards Henry and Julia, "And now, my boy, my girl, for your presents. Pick one object each from this shop. Anything you both like," Mr Gold said as he gestured around the shop.

"Spoiling them grandpa," Elsie said.

"Yeah, we never got this," Kerr said.

"You two were whiney," Mr Gold said.

"Hey!" Elsie and Kerr said and they smiled at him.

Henry and Julia walked around the shop a little looking around and Henry pointed to a wand, "That," Henry said as he picked it up and waved it around.

"Alright, careful, buddy! Wands are powerful," Neal said.

"Don't want to accidentally turn someone in a toad," Faye said.

"Still gives me nightmares sometimes," Neal said.

"There, there," Faye said as she patted his head.

"What?" Daniella asked.

Henry turned to Mr Gold, "So, how does it work?" Henry asked.

"Here. Let me show you," Mr Gold said.

"I wanna see," Julia said excitedly and rushed back over.

"Easy, sweetheart," Katy said.

Henry handed the wand to him, Mr Gold waved it through the air for a moment and with a flick of his wrist, he turned Henry and Julia into statues.

"No!" Elaine shouted.

"Papa!?" Neal shouted.

"Gold, why would you do that?!" David asked in anger.

"The prophecy. The seer said the children would be my undoing. So I have no choice. I must be theirs," Mr Gold said and took his cane, shattering the statue.

Mr Gold woke up with start and bolted upright in bed, "Papa?!" Mr Gold turned to his bedroom door, "Can you come downstairs?" Faye called out and Mr Gold sighed and getting out of bed.

Mr Gold and Faye were sitting in the living room having a coffee, Mr Gold looked at her, "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just... I'm just tired," Faye sighed, "All the time," Faye said.

"Get upstairs and sleep," Mr Gold said.

"I can't... I need to be on Hook lookout, he can't get to Elaine or her kids, not until she's ready to hear him out," Faye said.
