{Prologue}

As I walked past the lake, I felt the stare again. Not being able to name it as paranoia anymore, but rather stupidity, I grudgingly felt my curiousity rise. I cautiously made my way towards the exit of the forest, keeping all the activities taking place in my surrounding in vision. Just when I was about to take my next step, I heard the tree behind me shuffle. I was expecting that. What made me freeze was absolutely a different thing. Through my ability to hear sounds that have frequencies more than 20000 Hz, I heard light panting and sniffing.

Vampires were close to being zombies, neither dead nor alive; therefore breathing was not exactly vital to us. Assuming the worst, I came up with a conclusion that was far worst. It had to be a werewolf. My thoughts raced, as to wonder why a werewolf would be here. Coming up with nothing, I figured he was sent here to snoop around and to spy on us. In that case, he had to be a powerful one. The Werewolves should know better than to send a weak mutt after us. I prepared myself.

Quick as lightning, I shot the first curse that came into my mind. To say that I wasn't surprised would be a lie. I watched in astonishment as sparks shot from the tip of my wand and hit the tree, a sign that showed that the spell had worked its magic. It was hit.

The moment it fell from the tree, and dropped in front of me, I held my breath. The thirst to prove myself was a lot stronger than before. I had decided that this was it. After killing this vile creature, I will show the others how much I'm worth. I will prove to them that me being a hybrid does shit to the fact that I am still, indeed, a Vampire. That the respect I get is not only for being close to the king's son, but for what I am.

Pointing my wand at the silhouette that was crouched over the ground, no doubt deeply injured by powerful enchantment, I prepared myself for the next step. But for some reason, I felt as though I shouldn't have done what I did. Shaking my head in disgust, I discarded any pity I felt for the figure laying in front me. It wasn't worth it. It was enough kindness from my part, as I was actually bestowing death upon him.

Thinking for a spell had never seemed so difficult before. It felt as though all the spells I knew were flushed down the drain. Confused, I asked myself what was happening as I couldn't remember any of the offence spells that once used to come naturally to me. Finally, I grasped onto the only spell I could remember that would seriously maim the creature instead of healing it like the other spells would.

Just when the curse was about leave my lips, the creature slowly raised its hooded head, and before I could even speak out one syllable, it locked its violet, beautiful eyes with me, and snarled in a low yet sexy voice.

"Mine".
