I was walking through the hallway at school. In disbelief that I really only had 8 weeks left of school. Man...Prom is literally next week. The last month has been so crazy, but I think everybody is just adjusting to new norms for real. I mean everybody kinda in their own zone as far as school goes. The studio has never been so on point in life. Man...I couldn't wait for school to be out so I can dive head-first into it like never before. Plus, me and Iris were definitely about to kill Prom. Man...I had no complaints at this point. I was walking to Pre-Calculus when I ran into Toya. "What's good sis?" I said to her.
"You seen Tony?" she asked.
"Yeah, he should be coming down, he was in the gym when I left." I said to her.
"Okay cool, just wanted to make sure he was ready for that exam." she said.
"Oh yeah, he's here and he know what's up."
"Cool, thanks Charles." she said as she walked off. She's been a hell of a lot cooler lately as well, which was surprising but maybe that baby was making her nicer.
"What up Big C?" I heard Jay say as he walked up the side hallway from the Library.
"I can't call it. About to go take this exam." I said.
"Good luck, that shit brutal."
"I got this! You already know."
"Facts! We gotta link and run 3s." Jay said and I could do that for real. Always up for a good game.
"Tell me when and where and I'm there bruh." I told him.
"Bet!" He said while I walked into class and sat down. I had to get in my zone for this test. When we started that test, I actually zoomed through it. I don't know if me and Iris were just over-prepared for everything or this was just my niche. But I got through it and when I look up, Tony was done shortly after me. When the bell rang we walked out. "How you think you did?" I asked him.
"I think I did good. It wasn't as bad as everybody made it out to be for real." he said.
,"That's exactly what I was thinking too." I said as we turned down the hall and seen Dom.
"What's good sis?" I asked her.
"Hey Charles! What's up T?" she said sounding a little more chipper than we had seen her since...well you know. "I got some heat for the studio." she said.
"Bet! You scheduled for a session tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah. But I'll be there tonight too. Onyx said she needed me for a hook." she said.
"Cool, see you later then." I said to her.
"D, you seen Toya?" Tony asked her. She pointed behind us and Toya was right there. Her and Dom waved before D turned around and there was Jay and Jazz. Some of this shit was hard to witness for real. She just side-stepped them and kept it moving.
"Damn shame." Iris said as she walked up to me.
"Ready for Chemistry?" I asked her, she just shrugged as we all walked to Chemistry. The one class all of us were in together. Now, it's weird. Cuz typically we all sat in one row, now D moved all the way to the back of the room. I get it though. Me and Iris took a seat. Tony and Toya did shortly after. Jay walked in and sat on the other side of me. The messed up part is the teacher definitely set up a group project and sadly Jay and D were still lab partners. We all had split up into groups. I went and grabbed goggles for me and Iris before I returned to our station. We both put them on and started to prepare for what the teacher was about to have us do. We really were hit with the world's goofiest project. I know it was about the end of the year, but to have us baking brownies at this point was just strange. I get where the mindset was with changing the elements of things in them and seeing a different turn out. But at this point, I think she's just filling in days with random shit. Iris looked over at me and smiled. "What you all smiley for?" I asked her. "Because I know I'm fried." she said with a slight laugh.
"What?" I said curious as to where her mind was.
"I was looking at you like, 'Brownie for my brownie'." she said imitating homegirl off the Tyler Perry movie and we both busted out laughing. Amazing how we practically do everything together and still don't get tired of each other. Baby was wild for sure, but she had a nice, cool side too. I liked when she was like this for real. Ever since I took her off restriction and we've been into the studio together, there's been a shift. She's been talking to her sisters back home more and seemed much more calm. I don't know what was changing inside of her, but the change was absolutely noticeable.
"Yeah you fried, but I wouldn't want you any other way." I told her.
"Ohhh I like that." she said as she edged closer to me.
"I know this is Chemistry, but I don't think I meant this type of Chemistry you two." the teacher said as she walked on by us. That just made us laugh more. Teachers be mad corny with their jokes, but it was expected at this point. We were all adults basically and they weren't oblivious as to what goes on behind closed doors. She provided us with a recipe that used more eggs than a normal one would. I mean common sense tells us, our brownies would be more cake-like than anything, but I guess we gotta see this thing through. We began to put ours together and mix it appropriately as the teacher directed. I guess this was a cool little relaxed assignment to help with easing us into the end of the year. Yeah, this crazy when I look back on it because it seems like school actually went kind of fast. Either that or my mentality is getting old early. Either way, one chapter was beginning to close and real life was about to begin. I'm ready for it.
