As soon as I heard the water begin to run upstairs, I put dinner on low and ran off to the bathroom. I pulled out the three little boxes I have had hidden for about a week, carefully opening each and reading the directions. I quickly complete the tests as the water was still running, and set them on the counter while washing my hands and resuming dinner. Patrick and I had been trying for quite some time to have a baby, but after countless false tests, we had lost hope. We had gotten married over two tears ago, after dating for four, and had been trying for the past year.
The water shuts off a few minutes later, and dinner is finally finished. I called Patrick, downstairs as I plated dinner. He walks into the kitchen wearing nothing but a loose pair of nike shorts and a towel drying off his hair. I had cooked Pats favorite, chicken and pasta.
"Mmm babe, it smells really good." Patrick says as he gives me a quick kiss then sits down to eat.
"I tried something different in it this time, so tell me if you like it." I told him smiling at him. We had ate dinner over a comfortable silence, as I kept twirling the noodles on my plate. I was anxious to see what the tests said, and suddenly I was optimistic.
"Babe, I got the dishes." Pat told me. I smiled and thanked him while kissing his cheek in the process.
"I'm going to go take a shower." I tell him, giving him a slight wink. I rush upstairs to the other bathroom I took the tests in and grabbed the three little tests off the counter in the bathroom, and couldn't help but smile. I rushed into our room and put the tests in my night table, and got in the shower. After I showered and changed into one of Patricks T-shirts and a pair of shorts, I joined Patrick in bed, cuddling next to him. He wrapped his arms around me and comfortingly rubbed my back. "How many kids do you want?" I quietly asked him, pondering on the subject.'. He smiled down at me, "I want three or four. Why?" he asked. I turned over, and reached into the night stand pulling the tests out. As he stared at the three little sticks in question, something clicked. I have never seen Pat smile so big before. "Y-you're pregnant?!" He asks excitedly. I nod and cant help but laugh at his excitement. He places his rather large hands on my stomach and softly rubs it, smiling to himself. "Baby Kane." He said quietly to nobody in particular, still rubbing my stomach. I leaned down, and gave him a kiss as him and I both cherished the wonderful moment.
