Chapter 22

Amora's p.o.v
The moment word spread that Mendoria was about to get attacked, most people flew into panic. Everyone started packing their belongings, preparing to flee the village to Kaltaria. Yet, they came sooner than expected. A large group of Voltaris arrived before everyone could evacuate, tearing through the village, killing everyone in sight. 

I am in my room when a Voltaris breaks in. I immediately fire an arrow at him, but he deflects it with his sword. Before I could notch another arrow, he is already on me, so I resort to summoning Aggroblade. The Voltaris is more skilled in close combat though, and with both my physical and mental energy draining each second of using my Aggressium Song, it didn't take long for me to be bested. The sword from my Song disappears, and I stand there, doomed.

Suddenly, the Voltaris' markings fade out, and he drops to the floor, dead, behind him stands the Mendoris I had sparred with back then. ' Kyan?'

' Hurry up, there's no time!' Kyan urges me. I take nothing but my bow and quiver, which only has a couple arrows left, then take off with him. However, something, or rather someone, is still on the back of my mind.

' Have you seen Argus?' his face falls, making me panic, ' Is he alright?!'

' I haven't seen him,' Kyan answers, ' But I'm sure he's fine. Evan and the others are saving as many Ardoni as we can.'

Just then, I hear a Song from my right. Reacting quickly, I shove Kyan to the side, narrowly avoiding the Aggrosphere that passes between us. I glance to the direction in came from, only to stop in my tracks. The Voltaris seems to recognize me as well, ' If it isn't the Mendoris girl we found alone in the woods... How's your leg?' Tygren mocks.

' Better, no thanks to you,' I hiss back, notching an arrow. Kyan draws out his sword, positioning himself in front of me. 

Tygren notices, ' Are you really so weak that you need another to protect you again?' he taunts. I growl, taking a step forward, but Kyan holds out a hand to stop me, ' Stay behind me, he's just trying to get on your nerves.'

' And what about you, boy? Trying to defend your girlfriend? A shame neither of you will be making it out alive.' 

' We'll see about that,' Kyan says, not bothered by his words. With that, Kyan charges forward at Tygren, and their swords clash. I hold up my bow, waiting for an opening to fire an arrow, but they were moving a little too much, and I couldn't guarantee I wouldn't hit Kyan instead of Tygren. I could join in with Aggroblade, but I might only hold Kyan back, so I stand my ground in the distance.

They keep exchanging blows, sometimes their blade cutting the other. While Tygren had more powerful blows, Kyan is more swifter in his attacks. Even so, Kyan soon runs out of stamina and starts slowing down. Tygren manages to force him back, but Kyan thrusts his sword forward, stabbing it into Tygren's leg, making the Voltaris groan in pain. Kyan then wraps his arms around Tygren's neck, holding him in place, ' Amora!'

Seeing this, I fire an arrow at him. Tygren soon realizes it, using his elbow to hit Kyan in the face, freeing himself and my arrow barely misses his head. Tygren grabs Kyan, throwing him to the ground and holds his sword up.

In my panic, I quickly fire another arrow, and it hits Tygren's chest. He stumbles back a little, pulling out the arrow in frustration before pointing his sword at me, summoning his Aggressium Song, but Kyan yanks him down as he's charging it, making him drop his sword. Kyan quickly picks the iron sword up, bringing it down on Tygren. The Voltaris rolls away in time, but Kyan follows up with his own sword, and manages to stab it into Tygren's chest.

Kyan huffs as the Voltaris' markings fade out. I sigh in relief, but become aware of a large gash across Kyan's chest. It was bleeding, badly. ' Kyan...'
