Suit and Tie

My best friend Farrah had dragged me to one of her Uncles' banquets for the best of the music industry. I had managed to avoid at least a dozen of them with excuses such as gymnastics or babysitting but this time, she coordinated with my mother, that heartless wench.

I scrunched my nose as the car rolled to a stop in front of the baby blue carpet. "Oh quit it with the face, Riley. It's not as horrible as you think it is."

I glared down at the black and white, ombre sequined, skin tight monstrosity she had thrown me in. Farrah thought it was gorgeous, I thought it was too much. The square neck and far apart short sleeves exposed quite a bit of my chest which Farrah refused to let me cover with any form of necklace. I was also extremely unhappy with the shoes- no, they weren't shoes. They were death traps. The red satin stilettos were four inches high. She insisted they were adorable, I insisted they weren't sensible. She won.

As a gentleman opened our door, Farrah sent me one last look. "Do not stop smiling."

I scratched the back of my neck, attempting not to ruin my blond curls, before she stepped out. I plastered the best smile I could manage on my face before taking his hand and carefully stepping out of the car.

We slowly made our way down the carpet, stopping every few feet to pose for pictures or so Farrah could answer a question. We were about half way down when Farrah let a small squeal escape from her lips.

"It's them!" she attempted to whisper while keeping her face in a smile. I knew who she was talking about without even turning my head. The British-Irish boyband she had been obsessing over for the past two years. I've been dragged to concerts, signings, meet and greets and forced to watch Twitcams. I knew more about them then I found socially acceptable. The only thing I agreed with her on was that they were hot. Well, beyond hot. I thought they were pretty much perfectly sculpted human beings.

We made it to the entrance and showed our invitations before walking in. I made a b-line for the bar, leaving Farrah behind to gawk at the boys in a not so subtle manner. After I got my happy drink, I went to reunite with my best friend.

Her gold dress was not hard to spot from across the room and I slowly made my way over to her. She was standing in front of the five perfect men and I mentally groaned.

I plastered the sweetest smile I could muster on my face before closing the final few feet between myself and the group.

"Farrah, we should go let your Uncle know we're here." I attempted at a get-a-way.

She grinned at me and shrugged. "I'm not worried about it." I sent her one of our looks- the you-bitch look- before quickly putting my smile back on my lips. "Guys, this is my best friend Riley. It's her first time to a function like this."

The boys smiled at me and nodded politely. They were all dressed in black suits with white button ups. Four of them had classic ties on while Harry, I think it is, wore a bow tie.

The blond haired one, Niall, again, I think, I'm bloody horrible with names, damn it, extended his hand and I took it. "Nice to meet you, princess." His Irish accent made my stomach flip and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. A black tie with small white polka dots was around his neck and tied perfectly. His jacket fit him flawlessly, accenting his waist and flaring out a bit at his hips. His long legs were covered with black slacks and shiny black shoes were on his feet. He was the epitome of class and I found my heart beating faster. A suit was to me what lingerie was to men.
