being asami's airbending s/o headcanons

- asami was among the group that came to you after you found out you were an airbender

- while tenzin and korra were trying to convince you that you'd benefit from learning to become an airbender, you were still unsure

- you had a life that you couldn't just drop because of some weird spirit world nonsense, after all

- "can't sleep?"

- you looked down from the sky of stars you were staring at to find asami approaching you

- "no," you admitted, "i guess there's too much going on in my head tonight."

- you looked down at your hands before remembering the accidents you'd had with it earlier

- wrapping your arms around yourself, you asked, "are you sure you wanna be out here with me? i mean, my airbending is a little unpredictable."

- "i'm not worried. you've already blown me away once," she said with a smirk

- your eyes went wide when you realized what she meant

- she chuckled to herself suddenly and added, "i'm sorry, that was so cliche."

- "don't be sorry," you laughed, "it's not often that a pretty c.e.o. flirts with me."

- "well, it's not often that i see a gorgeous airbender."

- and that was how the two of you first got together

- out in the cool night air, she talked with you - got to know you and you got to know her

- something she said actually helped you make your decision - that her dad helping amon

- changed her whole life and how she thought about herself, but when she saw that, she instantly made the choice to do right

- and you thought that the only way to do right with your airbending was to go with tenzin to master your bending

- when tenzin left team avatar on oogi - so that korra and co. could look for more airbenders while tenzin taught the ones they already had, including you, asami called before you left, "wait!"

- you turned back to her, surprised when she pulled you into a searing kiss

- "be sure to learn a lot," she said against your lips, "so i can brag about dating a gorgeous and skilled airbender."

- "be sure to find a bunch of airbenders who are even worse at it than me so i can be skilled by comparison," you joked

- once you were in the temple, she wrote letters to you as often as she could

- her handwriting was pretty and precise script, and the letters almost smelled like her sweet perfume, so you kept them all in a safe spot

- when you first got a break from the air temple, she took the opportunity to show you around republic city

- the bright lights in the night life were gorgeous

- she brought you to dates in fancy restaurants and got you both all dressed up and pretty

- sometimes guys at the restaurants thought the two of you were just friends and got handsy with either you or her, so she grabbed their hands and turn them around so she could press the hands on their back between the shoulder blades

- "hey, scumbag, you're going to leave me and my date alone, alright? thanks, have a nice evening."

- you were a little startled (and really amazed) by her quick reaction, but she brushed it off

- "i'm friends with the avatar and a republic city detective," she laughed. "you know i've gotten in more trouble than running into drunk idiots."

- if you didn't go to restaurants, both of you would go dancing

- she seemed so fluid and graceful when she danced with you, even when she was just doing whatever felt fun

- she'd always stay close to you and hold your hands when she could

- when the two of you snuck away from friends to kiss, everyone knew because asami's red lipstick rubbed off on your lips or neck

- somehow, it was always easier to smudge her lipstick on you than it was to clean it off to hide it from the others

- when you got a little more control of your powers, you spent the day time while she worked to look for the perfect place in republic city to see the whole city from

- and then when she took off work for the night, you'd walk with her near it

- "okay, close your eyes," you said excitedly

- she narrowed her eyes in suspicion but did so anyway

- you held her close before launching the two of you into the air together

- she yelped and clung to you in midair

- the landing on the roof of the tallest building you could find was a little rough, but tenzin wasn't here to criticize, and the two of you were more than okay

-"what was that? a little warning next time would be---"

- she opened her eyes and turned to see the sight before the two of you

- "oh," she gasped, still holding onto you like the glimmering lights below her would make her faint

- "i thought you'd like a surprise better."

- "this is beautiful," she murmured. then she turned to you. "but you know what's even more beautiful?"

- "asami, if you say me, that's going to be even worse than, 'you already blew me away,'" you joked before pulling her in for another kiss
