A week has passed, and we haven't heard anything from the Freshman. We've tried to ask directly to the hospital, and he's still missing, we also asked some freshmen that are acquaintances with José, but we got none.

I was curious about his whereabouts and how they found out that José snitched on them? I'm convinced that someone did follow us. There's no way anyone in the hospital is one of Darius's gang.

After that, Mason and his group plan to threaten Darius properly. He said we want to 'surprise' him and give him a heads up.

The thing is, today is the audition. The committee will choose the perfect performance for the Family Thanksgiving Gathering, and I know Stephanie and David will be judging the audition. Still, they will also be going through the same audition as everybody.

One thing that keeps distracting me from my practice is my dad. I keep thinking about inviting my dad, but I don't have the strength to call him. I don't know why I stared at his number through the screen every time I tried to call him. Will he come and see my performance?

The distance between Trinity College to my hometown, Utah, it's about 500 miles. Trinity College is located in Idaho. I didn't have high hopes for my father to come. I know he won't waste his money on an airplane to watch me play.

"Are you sure you want to wait for us judging instead of practicing your guitar?" Stephanie asked me.

I nodded, "You said it yourself that I'm a prodigy."

She smirked, "don't get too cocky there."

I laughed, and she turned their attention to the stage.

We're in the auditorium, just like I said. Today is audition day. David, Stephanie, and I will be the last to audition because they have to judge. I sat behind the Students Union as they judged the audition.

Not to mention that I had plenty of time to rehearse by myself, but I was too worried about Mason and Darius. I keep glancing back between my phone and the stage, waiting for Mason's text because he said he was planning on getting Darius today. And I thought I wouldn't be more of a wrong time.

I've been opening Mason's chatbox,

Mason: we're going to get Elijah's ass

Mason: you don't need to come because it'll end badly.

Mason: Senior year is the SHIT, Imma ace this fucking class now. I'll text u after.

I was tapping my foot anxiously, waiting for a text to pop up.

"Fuck," I cursed under my breath, but I think it was loud enough for Stephanie to turn her head towards me.

"You okay?"

I shook my head, "sorry, I'm just nervous."

She smirked again, "you said you're a prodigy. Why would you be nervous about it?"

I scoffed, "I didn't. You did."

She cackled a laugh. She didn't return her attention to the stage. Instead, she went silent for a second, then continued to open her mouth, "have you called your dad?"

I shook my head, "no, I don't think persuading him to come will convince him to come here and watch me play guitar."

She sighed. She stood up and reached for my phone that was on my thigh, "What are you scheming now?"

She ignored me and went straight pressing the screen on my phone, and she showed me dialing my dad.

"What the fuck-" I froze when I heard my dad's voice through the phone.
