"Get ready for the party," my mom yelled from the living room,"we're leaving in an hour."

I had forgotten all about the party. It was going to be the first party we attended since we moved here a couple of days ago (two days to be exact). I got distracted drawing random shit on my sketch pad . So I immediately shot up from my bed and responded to my mom with "okay."

I walked towards my bathroom deciding to take a shower. I took out my phone from the back pocket of my jeans and placed it on my bathroom counter. As I did that I received a text message from my best friend, Maya.

"Are you coming to the party tonight?" It read. And I responded, "Yeah I'm leaving with my mom in an hour."

I hurried and took a fast cold shower, leaving just enough time to do my hair and get changed.

After searching in my closet for what seemed like eternity, I found a cute sundress my mom bought me a week ago. I slipped on my favorite pair of flats, since I knew I would have to get up and dance (Maya would drag me to dance), memories........

As I was walking to my mom's jeep my mom flashed me a halfhearted smile noticing that I'm wearing the dress she bought me. I'm startled, and practically jump into the air. I got a text from Maya saying if we could give her a ride. Like always my mom agreed.

When we got there she immediately jumped to the back of the truck. My twin brother, Tyler, had to say a smart ass comment that made Maya flick him off. Luckily my mom was too busy on her phone for a moment. We then drive off.

As soon as we entered the parking lot, the first thing that crossed my mind was that it was going to be crowded in there. In Maya's view, more guys to dance with.

When we entered I was proven to be right. We scanned the place, then we were greeted by some friendly lady, probably, my moms friend. she led us to an open table and we sat down. Yet after already being situated, I still scanned the room. Then my eyes narrowed with excitement when I spotted one of my middle school best friend. I told my mom we were going to sit with them. She nodded in agreement. I dragged Maya towards the table in the corner of the room, leaving my mom and sister alone at the table.

"Are these seats taken?" I question.

"OMG, I haven't seen you in the longest," she shrieks,"oh, and no they are not taken."

"I've missed you!" I admit to her.

"Same here!" Maya chimes in.

"So Avery how's life been on you?" I inquired.

"Fine , I guess, not a lot has changed."

"Well that's good" Maya says.

Suddenly I felt a tug at my arm. I noticed it was time for Maya to start bugging me to go dance with her. So after her whining and pleading, I decided to go with her. As we got up I looked at Avery and signaled at her to follow, and she did as instructed without hesitation.

After a few songs I was tired and wanted to sit my ass down. I rushed to our table (which was at a corner at the very back of the room, which I loved).

"I'm going to the restroom." Avery states.

"I'll go with." Maya adds.

As they walk away I yell in they're direction, "ok, so, y'all just leave me here, I see how it is!"

The only reason why I don't get up is because I'm too tired to get my lazy ass up. I brush my fingers through my hair a few times. That's when I notice that there's a really cute guy staring straight at me. I watched him smile and turn back around swiftly.

I started unlocking my phone, when I felt a hand on my shoulder I jumped half way out of my seat."Hi," a deep voice greets me. I turn around slowly and see the cute guy that I saw staring at me.

He had charcoal black hair, hazel eyes, and a perfectly built body. I mean like not that I cared, but he was so freaking sexy. I usually didn't pay attention to guys, but I couldn't help it he was just so good looking.

"Would you like to dance with me?" he asked catching me off guard.

"Sure, why not," I answered after thinking it through for a few seconds," heads up though, I can't dance."

"It's ok, I'll teach you."

He grabbed my hand and gently led me to the dance floor. His hands had a comforting warmth to them. There was a slow song playing, so he carefully put his hands on my hips and swayed to the music.

"So," he started,"can you tell me your name?"

"Maybe, if you tell me yours first." I responded.

"C'mon I asked you first," he pouted with puppy dog eyes planted on his face,"Please."

"Fine, but you have to tell me yours right after, okay?"

"Sure"

"My name is...," my phone buzzed and when I unlocked it I found a message. I turned to look back at the guy and said,"I'm sorry I gotta run my mom is waiting for me outside. Bye, I had a lot of fun, see you!"

"Bye!"He yelled out as I was walking away.

I wondered how long they've been waiting for me. I really don't like making people wait, especially when it comes to my mom. She gets pissed off real easily and is really impatient. When I got to the jeep I noticed that they were all already there.

"So how long y'all been waiting here?" I ask combing my hair with my fingers.

"Long enough!" My brother says rolling his eyes at me. He always has to be so mean to me. What did I ever do to him? I always feel like he hates me except for when he's in a happy mood, Hardly.

"Well I'm sorry I took so long."I respond unlocking my phone.

The ride was long and silent, except for the faint music of the radio and the typing of Maya's phone.
