Bree's P.O.V
*Ten Years Earlier*
It all happened so fast. One minute we were driving home from Aunt Sarah's, next we're crashed in a ditch on the side of the road.
I'm only ten years old, but what was happening was enough to scar me forever.
It was around ten o'clock at night. Pitch black out. My mom was always careful when she was driving. Never texting and driving, never taking her eyes off the road. It wasn't her fault. No...couldn't possibly be.
We came around a curve. And that's when it happened.
CRASH!
All so sudden. So so suddenly.
My mom was passed out in the front seat. Her head laying against the stearing wheel not moving.
Me and my 2 month old brother lay in back. We seem to be okay. Alert and confused, or in his case, crying.
"Mom? Mom..." I said my voice barley a whisper and so shaky it wasn't recognizable.
No response.
"Mom! Mom wake up! Wake up!" I cryed this time. Tears pouring out of my eyes.
Still no response.
After calling her name for the billionth time and getting no response, I finally just sat back in the seat and cried.
A few minutes later I hear sirens coming from all around us.
Someone busted my mom's window trying to get in which immediately caused my brother to start crying again. I quickly covered his mouth and shushed him making him calm down. I didn't know who these people were and I certainly didn't want them finding out we were back here.
But next thing I know someone is pressing their eyes to the window on my side of the car.
"There's kids in the back! There's kids in the back!" They shouted.
They somehow managed to pry the door open and stick their head in.
"Come here. Its okay we won't hurt you." They grabbed me before grabbing my brother and put us in another car which took us straight to the hospital.
The rest was just a blur. I don't know how, but I woke up in my own bed in my own house, with my dad beside my bed.
"What happened daddy?" I asked. My voice back to normal.
"Don't worry about it pumpkin. Just get some rest." He told me not answering my question.
"Where's mommy?" I asked. My voice not as strong as the first time.
He just pressed his lips into a thin line before giving me a kiss on my head. "Goodnight princess." He said before leaving the room.
The next day I found out that she died. Apparently a drunk driver had hit us making her hit her head against the window and then steering wheel. She lost too much blood by the time they got her to the hospital.
I couldn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. That somebody would be so stupid enough to get drunk then get behind the wheel of a car and drive intoxicated.
They ripped a piece of my family away from me. They took her away from me.
How can I ever go on?
