Chapter 1 : The Return

Gilbert Residence

John is in the kitchen, he closes the fridge and sees Elena and someone else. "You scared me." He said to them. "Sorry" Elena said. "This is Daniel, he needed to use the phone." She added. John looked at the teenager and said "yeah sure, the phone's over there." "Thanks." Daniel said. "Is Jenna home?" He asked Elena. "She had to meet the fire chief about the building. She doesn't know the truth. They've covered it up." She responded. "Yeah I know. How's Jeremy?" He asked. "Holed up in his room." She responded. Little did they know, Jeremy was unconscious after drinking Anna's blood and taking pills.

Elena arrives home and is at the front door and talking on the phone to Stefan. "I looked everywhere". She said. "What do you think, someone stole it?" He asked her. "Yeah, someone definitely took my stuff."

Back inside, John and Elena are still talking. "Can I help?" He asked. "Sure." She simply replied. She grabs a knife and cuts off his fingers, including the one with the ring. "Katherine?" He asked, terrified for his life. Katherine shows her vampire face and says "hello John." Then Daniel came out and sped next to Katherine and said "goodbye John." and Katherine stabbed John in the gut.

Elena comes in and shouts to Jeremy. "Jeremy, you up?" She shouted. She then heard a noise from the kitchen. She went in and saw John on the floor and she felt sick to her stomach when she saw his fingers missing. She called 911. "911, what's your emergency?" The receiver asked. "Hi, I-I need an ambulance at 2104 Maple Street." She said panicked. John sees Katherine and Daniel stood behind Elena. "Behind you." John whispers. "What?" Elena asked. "Behind you." John said louder. Elena grabbed the knife and spun around, but saw nothing. She cautiously approaches the hallway. Katherine and Daniel speed around and frighten Elena and speed out the front door.

Elena suddenly remembers Jeremy and speeds upstairs to check if he's okay. She sees him unconscious on his bed and she starts to panic.

Later

After John is taken to hospital and Jeremy checked to see if he died, Elena and Damon go to the hospital to see if Caroline is okay. Stefan hears the door open and sees Elena walk in. "Hey, how was Caroline?" He asked her. "Not good." Elena said. Stefan hugs her and she hugs him back. "Just what I needed." She said. "But your brother is a better hugger than you." She added. Then Stefan threw her on the couch.

"Katherine" he said, venom lacing his voice. "At least I fooled one of you. I'll make to tell Daniel you said hi." She said. Stefan pinned her to the wall. "Feel better?" She asked him. The front door opens and Stefan gets distracted, giving Katherine the opportunity to break his arm and speed out. "Stefan?" Elena asked. "Elena." He said. "What happened?" She asked. "Katherine happened." Damon said. "That's not all. She said she would say hi to Daniel." He said. Damon grew shocked. "Who's Daniel?" Elena asked. "Our brother." Damon said with shock and joy.

Katherine meets back up with Daniel. "Hey beautiful." He said, smiling. Katherine smiled and kissed him. He spun her around and then set her down. "Hey handsome." She said to him, causing him to grin. "Stefan says hi." She said to him. He sighed. "Yeah well, I don't really care. I only need you." He told her. "How about we go to the mayor's funeral tomorrow and meet everyone. And also start the plan." He said to her. "Great idea. I love the way you think." She said. "Is that the only thing?" He asked. "Yeah." She said, teasing him. "Well, I guess in that case, I'm gonna have to change that." He said. Before she could respond, he kissed her and the kiss was full of lust and passion. Katherine kissed back equally as passionate. He picked her up and sped off, going to have a long night.

The next day

Tyler was greeting people and Katherine and Daniel walked up to the front door. "Hey Elena, thanks for coming. Who's this?" Tyler said to Elena. "Of course and This is Daniel, he's a friend from Denver and he's staying for a while." Katherine said to Tyler. "Okay, well you can both come in." Tyler said. Katherine and Daniel walk into the mansion and they both smile.
