Alice, the new kid. She was very nice. She went to the library everyday after school. I did too. But she just was so perfect. Nothing you could do about it. She loved everyone no matter what. She always started reading something new. But before she got to the library. She went to the coffee shop on the next block. She always got a medium hot coffee. Not sure what the coffee was, or if it was coffee. But she always went there.
She was quiet. Someone you would daydream about or read novels and be like "that reminds me of Alice!" Anyways. I wanted to talk to her.
I went to the section of the library she was in. The romance section. I grabbed a book she had just read a few days ago and dropped it "on accident" she looked at me. "That's a good book." She whispered. I looked down. It was by Colleen Hoover something called It Ends With Us. "I heard the author is a shithead though," she said not lifting her eyes from the book on the floor. I picked it up off the ground and felt it's soft pages. I looked at her then the book again. "What's your name?" I asked even though I knew the truth. Nothing. No words escaped her sweet lips. "Oh me?" She looked puzzled, she put her blue bookmark into the book she was reading as she looked up. As the cover and pages fell shut, a gust of wind blew across her face. Her rosy cheeks blushed matching a perfect shade of her lips. "Alice." I let out my hand for a handshake. Our hands collided. "Gracie" I said as I shook our arms up and down.
Looking at the time I pulled my arm away. Shit I gotta go, I thought. I grabbed a piece of paper and scribbled out my number. "So I can tell you how it is," I said handing it to her. I took the book and checked out as fast as I could. My mom is going to be pissed.
