I ran down to find a gate, opened widely to welcome me. I ran downhill and I noticed that I was nearing the radio station when I was running downhill. I imagined that the broadcast tower in the distance was part of the local radio station. Since Maine seemed like a decent guy, perhaps he could give me directions to the coal mine.

The tower was still blinking red in the dark. It was not bright but it was still visible from far. I ran as fast as I could, greeted by a gate in front of me. However, the ground shook once more and the gate vibrated violently, surrounded by darkness and the leaves around it flew away. Unnatural shadows clung to the gate. The Darkness  that was after me was trying to stop me. I wouldn't get through without a light.

I ran uphill as that was my only alternative way that I saw. I hurriedly sprinted, wanting to evade the Darkness as soon as I can. I managed to reach flat ground and I looked in delight. A searchlight was placed somewhere near the edge of this hill and furthermore, as I walked to the edge, I noticed that it was able to shine the light on the gate that was possessed by the Darkness. Hurriedly, I flicked the switch without even checking for the electricity because the next moment, I realised that there was no power to the searchlight. I traced the wire that was connected to the searchlight, moving to the generator. The whirling sound of a generator was getting louder and louder as I moved to the source of the generator. The night's eerie sounds forced me to move faster, a reminder that I did not want to be consumed by the Darkness. With three strong tugs, I pulled the line connected to the generator before it roared to life. The searchlight shone brightly in the dark after that and I ran towards the generator, navigating it to the possessed gate. It hissed for a short moment and disappeared a few seconds later after exploding into a bright yellow light.

I made my way down once more. I cannot afford to be late for it or Alice would be killed. The sight of Alice's dead body in my mind was already disturbing. I picked up a flashlight on the table as soon as I reached yet another gate which rumbled madly in front of me. With my flashlight, I shone on it, causing the door to erupt and disappear. I moved downhill again but something made me stop dead on my tracks. A box of contents with a car that was severely damaged was seen. However, I soon scrambled to pick up the contents as is took me a moment to recognise the flashbang grenades. These were an ideal weapon for my situation since it emits a bright light. It was also due to the fact that I did not have a gun as well.

I grabbed the six flashbang grenades and moved on, leaving the radio chattering. They clanged in my pockets but I was not given a choice. I would have ended up dead without the flashbang grenades somewhere otherwise. I climbed down the steep hill quickly, nearly injuring myself in the process but I did not care. All I wanted to do was to get out fast. The misty forest stood in front of me. No matter how much I dread going into forest due to my previous experience, I had to. Sure enough, as soon as I took a step forward, someone started to appear from my right with an axe in hand. They were the police officers whom were consumed by Darkness earlier. I threw a flashbang as soon as I saw him.

A streak of bright light pierced into my eyes, followed by a loud bang that could have made me deaf . I moved back, disoriented until I could briefly see what was going on. The enemy was missing, gone after the flashbang exploded into bright white light. More approached me, running towards me with their weapons raised at me and sprinting out of the sides to face me. I used my torchlight, focusing light at one of them for a second before I threw another flashbang at them. Another loud bang filled the air with bright light punching through my eyes again but I did my best to ignore it, running despite my eyes that were screaming in pain and the muffled sounds around my environment, caused by the flashbang.

As I continued to run through the forest, following the path that was in front of me when a cool breeze of air was felt at my legs. I took a glance at the object which sent me turning back. Two of them were following me, throwing axes at me and hoping that they could hit me. I turned back, about to throw a flashbang but I was met with the blade. I yelled in pain when it came into contact with me. I threw it at them before turning back and I leapt a second later, feeling the sharp blades slicing near me. A second later and I would have been slashed at the back. A loud bang was heard behind me once more. I ran as fast as I could to get out of the forest before turning back to check if they were still around, trying to attack me again. They were not around.

I ran into a lamp post, still emitting strong light and there were four flashbangs around. Without question, I took them with me and rest inside it, feeling the pain subside before moving on again.

It has been a long journey, fighting my way through another forest again. The flashbang that I held was working well for me and by the time I threw the fourth flashbang, I had already adapted to its loud piercing bang and the blinding flash of light. Only one last enemy was chasing me but I knew that I did not need to throw one at him. The radio station is a few steps away from me and its lights was enough to keep them out. I sprinted as fast as I could, not looking back until I barged into the radio station by the gates. It was missing by the time I turned back.

Maine's muffled voice is already being heard from outside. His voice made me move faster. I hoped that Maine could lend me a car to get to the coal mine. I opened the wooden door and walked into the radio station. The radio station was extremely small but the interior was impressive despite that. The colours matched each other, giving a vibrant look to the station. I continued to walk, hoping that it will not interrupt him. Maine was inside a room, talking to one of the  callers that seemed slightly frustrated. He was handling the call calmly. As soon as he was done talking to the caller, he turned to face me. He must have noticed me standing outside the room.

"Oh, here's a little surprise!"  Maine spoke with enthusiasm. "The famous writer Alan Wake just walked in. Folks, I'm going to see if I can talk him into an interview," He walked towards the door and unlocked it. I presumed that by doing that, he would not be interrupted. "Come on in, Mr Wake," he invited warmly. I opened the door and he welcomed me with open arms. "Ah, I'm so glad  that you could find the time to do this, Mr Wake," he greeted me, excited over my appearance. However, before I could open my mouth, the loud police sirens and blue lights were assaulting our eyes and  ears. I groaned. I brought trouble to Maine as well when I though I have lost them.

"Nowhere to run now, Dan Brown!" Agent Nightingale yelled through the loud hailer at us while walking towards the radio station. "You back away from Maine. Don't hurt him," He pointed the revolver at me at the next moment, his index finger already at the trigger, ready to pull it if I did anything stupid.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, everybody calm down!" Maine told Agent Nightingale and the rest of the cops  with his voice echoing in the room, putting his hands up to calm them down. "Put the gun down, we're all friends here... right?"

"Cool your jets, Nightingale. We got him," she spoke firmly.

Maine put his hands down immediately when Breaker told the agent to put down the gun, confident that everything is over. The next moment, Maine would have realised that it was false confidence. Agent Nightingale pulled the trigger, hitting one of the windows. It had sent Maine ducking for cover and me running out of the station by one of the windows that was left open. The shot was obvious that it was no safe area for me anymore.

"Judas Priest!" Maine swore in shock and anger as he took cover.

"What the hell's the matter with you? There's a civilian in there!" Breaker yelled angrily, shoving him.

I ran quickly, leaping past the wooden railings. I did not care where I was going. The most important thing is that I had to get out of here. I did not want to feel the bullets flying past me again. I slid down a hill for a short moment before I grunted as I landed clumsily onto the ground again. I checked my flashlight while evading the police once more. It was left undamaged and it will be the tool that I need to fight against my foes.
