she was the last into the changing room. her torso ached so bad that she couldn't even be bothered to admire the unclothed people surrounding her. her eyes were cast down, fist clenched around her broom as she approached the duffle that still remained on the ground.
"Fucking wench cracked the tail end of broom..." Goyle mumbled under his breath.
"Oh, fuck your broom you pile of fucking lard." she responded, then grabbed a towel from her bag and began drying your face and neck of sweat.
Amber eyes pierced through Draco's soul as she pulled the damp jersey over her head and tossed it at him.
Neither Crabbe nor Goyle had a thing to say then — not with her standing there in nothing but a sports bra and compression shorts. Draco too felt his throat go a bit dry at the sight of her bare hips, bruises already beginning to form on her otherwise flawless skin.
It was apparent to him then that, if for any reason, she couldn't be on the team simply because he wouldn't allow other guys to see her so intimately every single week.
"Gotta say, you did better than I expected, hiraeth." Blaise said, still trying to get on her good side.
But she continued to glare at Draco, even as he pulled his own shirt off. she held back the urge to let her eyes wander down his toned body. The decision was ultimately up to him, and he hadn't so much as spoken a word.
she cracked. Draco saw the fury in her eyes die like an extinguished fire as she looked over every bit of him. He had an athlete's body. How could she not drink him down like a glass of cool water?
Draco scoffed, finally breaking the unspoken connection the two had. "We don't have any beater positions open."
"Draco, I'm twice as good as—"
"I didn't ask for a response." He snapped, silencing her abruptly, his tone as sharp as a blade. Draco fished for his lanyard and began tugging a key off of it, forcing it into her hand. "But if you'd like to discuss this further, you can wait for me like I told you to in the first place."
her eyes cut up at him while everyone else's widened, all in disbelief. she figured that the pair of balls he was hiding beneath his trousers had to be made of steel to talk to her in front of others in such a manner.
"Wash up. Wait for me in my dorm." He moved closer as he spoke, voice softening all the while. "Make yourself comfortable, I'll be up in a bit."
It was a power move — he was letting Blaise and anyone else know that this wasn't the first time she'd be with him alone, and that she'd be with him tonight. He was effectively starting a rumour about the two of them right in front of her.
she'd never once been told what to do. And whether Draco was commanding her to do what he said, guiding her to a more favourable outcome, or inflating his own ego, she still felt a sinking sensation deep in her groin.
"that's your fucking best friend. you idiot." hiraeth thought.
she closed her hand around the key and gripped it so hard that it nearly drew blood.
"Okay." she said, and gathered her duffle over her shoulder. she started back toward the dorms and showered up well, exactly as he'd instructed.
And instead of going back to Draco's dorm, she tucked his key into the depths of her nightstand. she crawled into her own bed and anticipated how he'd respond.
