Piper's POV
Alex got out of prison 6 months ago and if I'm being honest it hasn't been the greatest 6 months. Don't get me wrong, I love Alex but adjusting to life after prison is hard.
Alex is frustrated she can't find a good paying, full time job because of her record as a felon. Alex has been taking online college classes to earn her degree in business while also working a part time job. I on the other had am I manager at a local coffee shop. Most of the time I'm at work while Alex is home and vice versa, putting a lot of stress on our relationship.
I get home from work around 5 to find Alex engrossed in her computer, typing away. She doesn't even realize I'm there. I sneak up behind her, rub her shoulders and kiss the top of her head.
"Hey, I'm home." I say
"I can see that, but I really have to finish this paper by tonight." She replies
"How long is that going to take?"
"I don't know Piper!" Alex says aggressively
"Okay, no need to get angry. I just want to spend some time with my wife. I thought we could have a nice dinner, cuddle on the couch and watch a movie?"
Alex, without saying any, gets up and walks away to our room and closes the door behind her.
I try to ignore it and make one of Alex's favorite meals to cheer her up. After I'm done cooking I knock on the door and then slowly turn the knob and open it.
"Knock knock, I made your favorite"
I walk over to her side of the bed and put the plate of food on the night stand and then walk over to my side of the bed and sit down"
"Thanks babe." Alex says while still staring at her computer.
"Okay enough of this." I say while closing her computer and grabbing it from her lap.
"Hey! I was almost done! Give it back you asshole."
"You can have it back after to eat dinner with me."
"I thought you were my wife, not my mom."
"Alex we've barely seen each other this week, can you please just try to enjoy a dinner with me?"
"Fine." She says while avoiding eye contact with me.
"Look at me." I gently grab her chin and turn her head so she's facing me. "I love you."
"I love you too Pipes. I'm so sorry I've been such a dick, I'm just so stressed with all this work."
"It's okay, I forgive you but don't forget that you can talk to me. I'm here for you. We are in this together." I move my hands to the side of her face and slowly but passionately kiss her.
"I have some exciting news to tell you." I say while grabbing my plate of food. "I'm up for a big promotion at work, but it's in Wisconsin..."
