The Proposal

Nova had taken a day off from taking up any new jobs and had an idea. A great idea in her head but a dumb one when she revealed it to Sunny.

The night prior, Nova had told Pluto she was going to take the day off and she wanted to hang out with them for a neat little surprise. Although the big ole' cryptid had said yes, there was some suspicion in their voice. Nova was being strangely secretive at the time though so she couldn't blame them.

A knock on the door had brought the cat girl out of her thoughts.

"Alright, time to prove Sunny wrong!"

Opening the door revealed her rather large partner, who had to duck just to see her from under the door frame.

"Hey, Catnip."

Nova tried her best to keep her purr to a minimum but hearing them say her nickname always got the motors running. The smirk widening on Pluto's face was a clear sign they could hear the purring as well.

"H-hey Ploo! Are you ready to see the surprise~?" Nova began backing up so Pluto could enter the apartment.

Closing the door behind them, Pluto followed suit "So long as it's not another ridiculously small cosplay you got for me offline."

Nova let out a nervous chuckle as she recalled her past attempt at surprising Pluto. It was for a matching couple's cosplay that unfortunately didn't go according to plan. She knew she should have asked Pluto for their measurements but even then-the largest poker bunny suit still ripped at the seams the second Pluto straightened out.

The girl had to snap herself out of her thoughts as she started to play the moment over and over in her head. A faint blush sprouted on her cheeks before she chirped back "Thankfully for you, this isn't something you gotta wear!"

Pluto merely cocked their head before they crouched down some to get eye to eye with Nova, their eyes locked on her slightly red face. Their curiosity peaked after seeing the red on her face.

A low rumble followed their voice "Now you got me curious."

Nova gulped some before scampering off towards the sliding door of her balcony. "Just wait right here!"

Pluto blinked as their girlfriend disappeared and couldn't help but let out a light chuckle at how cute she was without even trying.

Moments later, she came back with a small yellow and green packet in her hands. She was muttering to herself under her breath before nodding and pausing before Pluto. It was then that she realized she had been holding the "surprise" in front of her the entire time. Her tail and hair bristled up before she quickly hid it behind her back with a nervous giggle and a smile.

Seeing this was enough to push Pluto over the edge as they gently reached out and grabbed Nova around the waist. She merely let out a "Mrrp!" in surprise as she was pulled into Pluto's arms. She could feel her motors starting up again and this time she was losing the battle to hold them back. Especially when she looked up to see Pluto's sharp toothed smirk as their now pink eyes gazed down at her.

There was a low purr that could easily be mistaken for a growl as the cyborg spoke. "Wha'cha got there, Love?"

"It's uh-" Nova had to start again. Her voice just cracked.

"It's a seed packet!" She re-revealed her surprise with a big fanged grin as she held the packet in front of Pluto's face. It was obviously an attempt for her to obscure them from her so her heart could take a breather.

Pluto merely tilted their head to the side to keep eye contact with Nova a bit longer before they forced their eyes to look at the bag. Their pink hue shifted to their default yellow as they read the largest letters out loud.
