I walked through the doors into the room to see Keith, Jennifer, and Harry sitting behind the table. Keith looked up at me and instantly recognized me.
"Hey, I know you," Keith said to me.
I thought back to 2012 when I played with Keith at a country music awards. He has only heard me play the guitar, but now he is going to get the chance to hear me sing.
"That is so cool," Jennifer replied to Keith and then turned back to face me.
I'm ready to perform, so I take a deep breath without looking to obvious.
"I'm going to be Georgia Woods by Keith," I tell Harry and Jennifer as I see Keith give me a slight smile and chuckle.
I started to play the guitar and sing, giving it everything I had. I really wanted to get the golden ticket, but I also wanted to impress Keith by doing one of his songs. When I stopped playing, I looked up at the three at the three judges.
"I love that you picked an obscure track off one of my older albums," said Keith.
"Yeah, I really enjoyed that!" remarked Harry.
"Riley!" was all Jennifer could manage with a smile.
The judges gave me three yeses to start the day. I walked up to Jennifer, who gave me the golden ticket. I was off to Hollywood. I left the room with my guitar around my shoulder, a golden ticket in my hand, and a smile on my face.
