Might As Well Spend It

Fredrick's POV
I woke up and looked around. Ugh. I rubbed my eyes. I'm so tired. I looked at my phone and it was 3:00 A.M. Great. I sat up in my bed and looked at the wall. I stretched and got up. I should go work more on the shed. I mean I have nothing to do.

Well I could go back to sleep but I want to finish the shed. I put my shoes on because call me weird but I sleep in socks. Not all the time but sometimes. Anyways. I grabbed my hoodie and leather jacket and put them on. It's most likely cold outside.

I walked outside and it was very cold. Jesus fuck. I walked to the shed and opened the door. It looked cleaner than yesterday. Like not a speck of dirt was on the ground. No way. Wait is someone breaking in? If so... I'm gonna check out the shed.

I checked the whole shed. It's really not that big. I don't know why I thought someone would be in here. Weird. I just sat down on the ground. I mean I can't clean and I don't really feel like moving anything. Ugh. Why can't I make up my mind?

Wait. The fire. It's still going. I saw it when I was walking towards the shed. I should go sit by it. I walked out of the shed and went by the fire. It was very warm. But it's about to go out so I need to keep it going.

I put some more logs and things in the fire and sat down by it. There were chairs that I could've brought by the fire but who needs chairs when you have grass. I know it seems weird but that's how I grew up. I just never really cared about germs or anything like that. This is normal for me.

Come to think of it. I've always been like this. I've always insisted on doing simpler things. Maybe I'm just stubborn. Or lazy? Perhaps both? I don't know what to call it.

As I was sitting down I felt like someone was next to me. Why do I keep getting this feeing? I looked to my side and it was Jackson. "What?" Was all I said. "Um are you actually gonna tell mama and papa about all that?" He asked. Oh my god he's still worried about that? "It depends" I said. He went quiet. "Please don't" was all he said.

"You really thinks it's that easy?" I asked. Before he could answer I stood up. I just walked away. I hate it when he acts like that. I walked down the driveway and walked across the road. The there's a strip mall right across from our house. It's mostly just local businesses. But that's where we went to get Essie her Christmas present. Also the playground is right by it. So yea.

I walked to the strip mall and looked at the stores they're not open yet but one caught my eye. It was a furniture store. I looked through the window. If there's something I like I might come later.  Then I saw it. One couch in particular caught my eye. It was an old, small couch. And by old I mean like 19 century pattern on it. Which I was down for. It was even on sale.

Ok

Ok. I need to come back later. I could totally put that in the shed. I can't really tell what the price is from out here. It's ok. When they open I'll go see. I mean it a lady and her husband who own the store and they usually sell furniture for cheap prices.

Time skip~

It was 12:00 and I finished cleaning the shed. Well not completely it can use a bit more tidying. Anyways. I moved some of the pieces of wood that were randomly in there. There were just random 2x4s laying against the wall. I nailed a few to the wall as a shelf. So that worked out.

Right now I'm walking to the furniture store. I wanna check out that couch. I brought all the money I had. Which was $1,175. I would've had more but I used that for Essie's present. And I'm not going to regret that.

I got to the strip mall and walked to the furniture store. There was a sign that said 'we're open' in the window. Well there's my answer. I opened the door and heard the bell ring. I've only ever been in here once. "Welcome to Burke's furniture! How may I help you- Fredrick?" I heard a familiar voice ask. No way.

It was Alena.

"I told you I would see you later" she said with a smile. "Oh sorry. What do you need?" She asked. She was soo happy. "Um actually I was interested in the couch over there" I said pointing to the beauty. She looked at the couch and made a weird face. She looked scared but confused. Weird.

Alena seemed scared. I looked at her and asked "is there a problem? Like can I not buy it? Did someone pre pay or something?" "No it's nothing like that. It's just that soo many people keep bringing it back after a while. That's why it's soo cheap. The people just always say something is wrong with it but it's fine" she said confused. I nodded. That is weird. "Well how much is it?" I asked.

Alena grabbed my hand and brought me over to the couch she grabbed the tag and squinted her eyes. "Sorry one second" she said. She grabbed her glasses out of her back pocket and put them on. "$850" she said with a smile.

Sweet. "I'll buy it. Now by any chance is there a way I can get it to my house?" I asked. I never thought about that. "Ah right. We do free delivery. My papa can put the couch in the truck and he can help you put it in the house and everything" she said happily. I just nodded. "Alright. Great. I'll do that. By any chance can it be done today?" I asked. Alena nodded and went talk to her papa.

After paying and everything Alena's ops brought me back to my house with the couch. "So where's it going?" He asked. "Don't laugh but you see that old shed over there?" I asked. He smiled and said "yes" "well I'm putting it in there" I said confidently. He just chuckled at me. Her papa is very sweet.

Alena's papa helped me put the couch in the shed but I needed to tip him. I mean it's almost Christmas. I pulled out a $50 and handed it to him. "Oh no that's fine" he said refusing the money. Oh hell no. "No I insist. For the Alena and the baby" I said smiling.

Alena's dad smiled and gently grabbed the money. We said our goodbyes and he drove off. Oh my god. I have a couch in my shed. I'm gonna cry. It's soo beautiful. I'm totally sleeping on this couch tonight.

Personally I think the only thing that will make this little home better is a heater. It's soo fucking cold. That's it. I'm putting a heater in here. I have one in my room in the house.

Oh my god I'm a literal fucking genius.
