Gotta keep in mind the rules of the nomenclature... XD
Anyways, ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to meet my species.
The Glaucus atlanticus.
Glaucus atlanticus (common names include the blue sea dragon, sea swallow, blue angel, blue glaucus, dragon slug, blue dragon, blue sea slug and blue ocean slug) is a species of small, blue sea slug, a pelagic aeolid nudibranch, a shell-less gastropod mollusk in the family Glaucidae.
These sea slugs are pelagic; they float upside down by using the surface tension of the water to stay up, where they are carried along by the winds and ocean currents. Glaucus atlanticus makes use of countershading: the blue side of their body faces upwards, blending in with the blue of the water. The silver/grey side of the sea slugs faces downwards, blending in with the sunlight reflecting on the ocean's surface when viewed facing upwards underwater.
Glaucus atlanticus feed on other pelagic creatures, including the Portugese man o' war and other venomous siphonophores. This sea slug stores stinging nematocysts from the siphonophores within its own tissues as defence against predators. Humans handling the slug may receive a very painful and potentially dangerous sting.
Ya read that? I am dangerous...
Dragons exist — though they're a bit smaller than you might have imagined.
The extremely rare little creatures look like electric-blue dragons "soaring" through the water. However, they're actually a curious form of sea slug known as Glaucus atlanticus that swims upside down to show off its colours. And while they don't breathe fire, they do pack a nasty sting that they borrow from their favourite food.
Can you believe this thing exists? It's so freaking beautiful!! AHH!!
I am soooo happy right now!!! I'm gonna cry!!!
I am gonna go and try to get over the fact that something known as a "blue dragon" exists and attempt to stop fanboying!
OH MAAA GOD!!Also I didn't write anything, I borrowed it from sites all over the net.
Cya!
