At start when I woke I heard a cry
A cry so bizarre I thought someone died
But I looked out my window and spotted a dog
It wore a tophat on its head and walked on its front paws
And it said, "Good morning sir, how do you do?"
And I replied, "I'm fine." (Not wanting to be rude)
But scarcely had I said the word a cow suddenly screamed
It interrupted my line of speech, but I thought it was a dream
And things grew worse when an elephant came along
Behind the behemoth an entire zoo followed along
Shaking my head I went downstairs and turned on the news
It said that the zoo was out to celebrate April Fools
And on my door they came a knock
Opening it I found a rock
There was a note that said, "Keep me, I have no home."
So with pity I took it in so it wouldn't be alone
And would you believe me if I said
"Now there's an orangutan in my bed."
How is this all happening? (I haven't a clue)
All I know is that I'm about to call up the zoo
