As the heat picked up and the sweat dripped off of everything, 25 year old Gabriella 'Gabby' Buckley wandered into her second home, firehouse 118.
She worked alongside her brother, Evan Buckley as a fire fighter for the scorching city of L.A.
The day was humid, hot wasn't a strong enough word. As the idiotic civilians of L.A partied and enjoyed the weather, some other civilians took a different approach.
Pools over heated, cars crashed, buildings exploded and L.A's very own first responders came to the rescue.
After responding to multiple calls the team returned to the firehouse. Gabby walked over to her beloved fire captain, Bobby who was talking with Hen.
The conversation soon turned to Buck as he walked closer revealing that his body fat had dropped.
"Oh yeah, that measure the fat in your head" chimney responded which earned him a chuckle from Gabriella.
"Ah see that would be funny but we're about a week away from submissions being due for the Hot Days, Smouldering Nights : Men of LAFD wall calendar and I'm already at my goal weight, so it seems like my head is clearly working perfectly" Buck droned on as he pulled an annoyingly stupid face towards Chim.
Gabby then responded, "do you really need to use the whole title? You could just say 'that idiotic, reductive, sexist calendar that insults the dignity of this organisation and furthers the myth that all firefighters are male'"
Hen smirked as she admired Gabby's hatred towards her older brothers unknown and subtle sexism. Bobby and Chim sent each-other a look of proudness as Buck started talking again causing Gabriella's eyes to roll out of reflexes, "yeah that's not any less words."
"Sometimes I wish you were never born Evan" Gabby muttered. "Oh piss off Gabriella" Buck shot back.
As the boys argued over who was 'sexier' Gabby's eyes trailed away from the group and towards the tall man that had made his way through the firehouse doors.
Buck continued, "Okay, let's be real, if they had to pick one person it would be me that was sexier so-"
Gabby cut him off at the sight of the man at the doors, "yeah Buck, they wouldn't pick you.."
Everyone's eyes wandered to the handsome man as he walked further into the firehouse.
"Who the hell is that?" Buck spoke with a jealous tone in his voice.
Bobby rolled his eyes, "it's Eddie Diaz, New recruit"
Gabby's head snapped to Bobby and his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"What do we need him for?" Buck snapped back as Gabby's eyes stayed on the new recruit.
Bobby let out a chuckle as he realised that Buck had become jealous "Guy served a couple tours in Afghanistan as an army medic it's not like he's wet behind the ear, c'mon I'll introduce you to him."
The team trotted into the locker room where Eddie had just put his LAFD shirt on.
"Eddie this is hen, chimney and-" Bobby began before he was cut off by Eddie, "Buckley.."
Eddie embraced the girl in a hug as the team questioned how Gabriella knew him. Buck had made his way into the room and was also confused at the sight.
Bobby finally interrupted, "uh, sorry but how do you two.."
Gabby pulled out of the hug and took part in the conversation, "we served together, Ed couldn't be away from me more than three hours in Afghanistan"
"Only because I thought you'd die if I left you alone" Eddie responded, making the pair sound like bickering children. "Oh so you're the famous Evan Buckley that sent Gabs all those letters"
