Chapter Twenty-Six

It's been about 3 days since I've been back in Washington. Jennifer is finally back home and being stubborn as hell, "Jennifer, can you please just sit down? I can pack your things myself" I was packing her large suitcase up. She was coming back to Aspen with me so we can be alone and reconnect. She wanted to go there instead of staying in Washington and I do not blame her. She needs this escape.

"But, I just want to help, that's all" she said pouting as she sat back on the bed, watching me.

"I understand that BUT I would appreciate it, if you took it easy. I don't need you in any more hospitals for a while."

"Fine"

"Thank you" I finished packing her bags and we made our way downstairs to the rental car I had. We stopped by the BAU before we left.

"Are you sure you wanna go to Aspen with me?" I asked Jennifer as I drove us to the BAU, she had my right hand clutched tightly in hers.

"Yes, I'm sure. I've never been before and I've always wanted to go. This is the one place we've never had a case in, isn't that weird?"

"That is weird actually because Aspen has a 83% higher crime rate than most state's cities and towns of all sizes."

"That's a strange but interesting fact, thank you baby" chills ran through my body when she called me that. I haven't heard that in so long. We talked the rest of the way to the BAU about any and everything. I was so ready to be alone with her finally. And hopefully, we can have sex.

...

"If it isn't my favorite blonde haired beauty! Hi pumpkin!" Pen said coming over to me, she pulled me into her arms, squeezing me tightly.

"Hi Pen, can I breathe please?"

"Oh shit! Sorry! I've missed you, I'm glad you're okay!"

"I've missed you too and yes I'll be okay"

"Hey superwoman!" Derek said coming over to me, he slapped me on the back, I winced.

"Derek, why would you hit her?!" Pen said, punching him in the arm. Reid grabbed his shirt pulling him away.

"Shit my bad!"

"It's okay" I said rubbing my shoulder, Rossi and Hotch came over next, joining us. We sat and talked in the conference room for almost an hour. I was getting 3 more months off of work while I recovered.

"I'm going to miss you JJ," Pen said, pulling me into a hug.

"It's only going to be 3 months, you can call and FaceTime me everyday if you want"

"Please don't tell her that" Tara said, she was actually joining the team while I was away, Hotch liked her a lot and she fit right in.

"Oh you hush it, Emily you better take care of her"

"I'll always take care of her," Emily replied. I smiled at her. We finished up the goodbyes and Emily and I headed to get to the airport for our flight. Once we got there the flight attendant grabbed our bags and we climbed on to the plane. I got settled in the window seat, Emily went to speak to the pilot.

"Hey" she said, taking the seat in front of me.

"Hey, are we ready to take off?"

"We are, how are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling okay, excited to see the snow" she smiles at me and I get butterflies, it feels like I'm falling in love all over again. Everything just feels so different now and I mean that in a good way.

"Are you sure you wanna be stuck with me for 3 months?"

"I think I can handle you" I wink at her and she blushes a little bit. We wind up moving over to the couch and cuddling until we fall asleep.

...

"And this is our apartment," Emily said as we walked through the doors of the apartment she had rented. It was so beautiful and simple.

"It's beautiful, I like it" we set my bags down by the door while she took me around the apartment. While she was making us some dinner I decided to put my things away. I hooked up my PlayStation in the living room and placed my clothes in the closet/drawers in our bedroom. After I was done with that I decided to take a nice, hot shower.

After my shower was done, I got out, dried myself off and slipped some boxers and a T-shirt on. I threw some socks on and made my way to the kitchen. She made my favorite meal, Cajun chicken pasta.

"Hey, did you have a good shower?" She asked once I came up behind her, wrapping my arms around her. My chin resting on her shoulder as she finished up.

"I did, that shower is amazing"

"It really is, the rain setting is my favorite" I pulled away from her and we made our plates going over to the kitchen table. I grabbed the glasses of wine and came back to the table.

"Mmm, cheers' ' Emily said as we clink our glasses together. We took a sip before digging into our food.

"I've missed your cooking" I said as I swallowed the first bite.

"I'm glad you're enjoying it, you needed to eat, you're getting skinny like Reid." I stuck my tongue out at her. We talked a little as we ate and drank our wine. We decided to have a movie night. I cleaned the kitchen up while Emily took a shower and got dressed. We were watching 50 First Dates, kinda similar to our situation but not really.

We cuddled on the couch laughing and talking as we watched the movie, these were the nights I missed with Emily. Just being alone with her and enjoying life. Not letting any worries bother us. We both wind up falling asleep during the movie. I woke up around 3am to the blinking light of the TV. I turned it off and got up, I picked Emily up and carried her to our room. I turned the fan on before climbing into bed, falling asleep. Emily held close to me.
