The wind whipped my hair around violently; I brushed it behind my ear with my free hand. I guess your wondering what my other hand was doing right? Silly billy! It was entwined with Sasuke’s of course! I was in a good mood today but the place where we were all standing. Yea, not helping me keep that vibe,

“Wow, nice place. What is it?” Naruto asked. Yep, we were standing outside of a large, fenced off forest. I’m guessing it’s fenced off for a reason, not a good one either. All along the fence were warning signs, ‘Do not enter’ ‘beware’ ‘no access’, those kind of signs,

“This is the location for the second phase of the exam. It’s the 44th battle training zone. But we call it, The Forest Of Death.” I swallowed and squeezed a little tighter on Sasuke’s hand, this can’t be good. I smiled slightly when I felt Sasuke squeeze back,

“The Forest Of… Death?” Naruto repeated grimly. Oh no.

I raised my eyebrow when I saw a square…. Rock? I guess it’s supposed to be a rock, slowly approaching Naruto. I cleared my throat,

“Naruto, why is there a square rock following you?” I asked in an amused tone. His eye twitched, he tried walking away but the ‘rock’ followed him. He then tried to run away but it just followed him like a lost puppy, Naruto finally realised that it wasn’t gonna stop following him anytime soon. He stopped suddenly and pointed at the lame attempt of a rock,

“That’s the worst disguise of all time there’s no such thing as square rocks!” Naruto yelled, I sweat dropped when I heard the rock reply with,

“Your slick boss, you saw through my disguise again, what I expect from my greatest rival.” I sighed and tuned out, I jumped when I felt someone snake their arms around my waist. I felt my face redden as I felt Sasuke’s hot breath on my neck,

“Poor Ayame, always so easy to embarrass.” I felt my face going redder; I tried to break out of his hold. I really wasn’t one for public affection,

“Sasuke, people are staring.” I murmured uneasily. Sasuke sighed and let go, I turned to face him and was surprised when I saw hurt residing in his eyes. I smiled and went onto my toes; I gave him a quick peck on the lips before returning to my original height,

“You know I love you.” I whispered so only he could hear. He smirked and flung his arm around my shoulders,

“Is this ok?” I giggled and nodded,

“This place really creeps me out.” Sakura stated, Anko smirked,

“It should it’s called the Forest Of Death and soon enough your gonna find out why.” I swallowed,

“I’d rather it be called the Forest of Fluffy Kitties.” I murmured. I sighed when Naruto stuck his butt out and did a little dance,

“You should be it’s called the Forest of Death and soon enough your gonna find out why.” Naruto mimicked, “Yea whatever, your not gonna scare me away!” He shouted, Anko just smiled sweetly,

“Well looks like we got ourselves a tough guy.” I noticed the slight change in her features. I jumped when she threw a kunai at Naruto, missing him by an inch then disappearing and reappearing behind Naruto. He didn’t even have time to react, “Can you handle this huh? You’re not afraid are you?” She put her hand on Naruto’s cheek, “Tough guys like you normally leave their blood all over this forest.” I made a face of disgust when a grass ninja gave Anko’s kunai knife back with her tongue!

“You know, you should only stand this close to me if you want a premature end.” Anko told the ninja while taking her kunai knife back,

“My pardon. With the sight of blood and your blade slicing through my hair I must have gotten a little exited. I meant you no harm.” As the ninja walked away I heard Anko mutter,

“Likewise.”

“That wasn’t weird…” I muttered suspiciously. Anko muttered something I couldn’t hear. She walked back to the front of the group,

“Now before we begin this test I have something to hand out to you all.” She held up a whole bunch of papers, “It’s just a standard consent form. Before all of you start this test your gonna have to read over this form and sign it.”

“What for?” Naruto asked,

“Some of you may not come back from this test and I have to get your consent to take that risk, otherwise it would be my responsibility.” She laughed but I just stood there, frozen, I might not come back?

“Don’t worry,” Sasuke whispered to me, “I’ll be with you the whole time.” I smiled,

“Ditto Sasu-kun.”

“Now, I’ll be explaining the test. Pass these out.” She handed Naruto the papers, “The first you need to know is that this test takes every one of your survival skills. First, I’ll give you all a description of the terrain on the battle field. The 44 battle training zone has 44 locked entrance gates, there are rivers and a forest inside, in the centre is a locked tower, located 10km from each gate. It’s in this forest that you will undergo this test. The test consists of; anything goes battle to get these scrolls.” She held up two scrolls,

“Both of them?” Sasuke asked casually,

“Hai. You will be fighting to get both a heaven scroll and an earth scroll.” I jumped when someone tapped my shoulder; I took the last paper and looked it over. Pretty basic stuff, just asking if I agree not to blame any of the jonin if I am harmed or killed,

“All together 26 teams will be entering, so half of those teams will be going after the heaven scroll while the other will be going after the earth scroll. I’ll give each team a scroll and that will be guarding.”

“Ok, so how do we pass the test?” Sasuke asked,

“Your entire squad must bring a heaven and earth scroll to the tower.”

“That means at the very best more than half of us will fail.” Sakura realised, “If not every team is able to get the scrolls…”

“No one ever said it would be easy. Oh, and one more thing, the test has a time limit, you must finish it within five days.”

“F-Five days?!” I yelled,

“What are we supposed to do for food?!” Choji yelled,

“There are plenty of things to eat.” Anko explained,

“But that’s not all, there are man-eating beasts and poisonous plants.” Kabuto explained, I sighed, this is not cool. Not at all,

“That means, that under the circumstances not even half the teams will pass.” Neji stated calmly,

“With the days getting longer and the nights getting shorter we will have less time to sleep and less time to recover. It is a challenge indeed.” Lee praised,

“Being surrounded by enemies we won’t have time to sleep, we’ll have to keep a constant watch.” Sasuke stated,

“Right, this test also measures endurance behind enemy lines. This is designed to be a gruelling test and I’m sure some of you won’t be up to the challenge.” Shikamaru raised his hand,

“So is this like the test? Can we quit?” Anko gave Shikamaru a disapproving glare,

“Of course not, in the middle of a battle you can’t say sorry I quit.” She smiled, “Well I guess you could but it’d probably get you killed.” Anko put her hands on her hips, “There are also ways you can get disqualified.” Anko started explaining, after she was done explaining everything to do she sighed, “Oh and a word of advice. Just don’t die!” She demanded, I let out breath. Get ready Ayame, time to shine.
