After the last training session before game day Mourinho beckoned me over he did this a lot but he was edgy, this was unlike 'The Special One'. I followed him into a pokey room that was named 'private'.
"Close the door." He said I shut the door full of curiosity and anxiety
"What's the matter Jose?" I asked while placing myself on a seat.
"The matter is simple, As you know we haven't got the results recently, a 1-1 draw against Stoke a loss 2-0 loss against Liverpool a 3-3 draw with Newcastle which we were 3-0 up at halftime... Huh... Well Abramovich has named a date to speak with him and obviously it won't be good news. It will be about the results and giving me a warning or simply a sacking. It hurt him his body language was anxious his eyes were fixed on me full of sadness.
I couldn't imagine life at Chelsea without him it wouldn't be right he's the figure head of it all.
Thoughts were rushing through my head. Why hasn't he said this to his colleagues and the players? Why didn't he mention it earlier? But maybe this was the right time to discuss it.
"The meeting is on the 27th of December so I have one more match to prove myself. Unfortunately it's against the league leaders... Manchester United!
My heart sank the match was tomorrow and if we can't beat Stoke City how are we going to get the three points against Man United? Confidence has been low recently. It's not the quality of the players at all, it's the motivation. And motivating a team is one of the hardest part of a managers job but he's 'The Special one' he's won the Champions League with Porto. Challenge accepted!
