Lena had given us the news of what happened to Stef as we rushed to get the hospital.

"Was Ana there did she do this?" Mariana asked. "No, she was with me." Jesus told everyone. Lena stood in place, in shock. "Don't be mad at him. This is my fault."

Stef's captain walked over to us. "Lets give your mom some space." She brought us to a seating area.

"Why didn't you call or text me back?" Mariana asked him. "I wasn't at Ana's."

"Well I didn't know that and this never would have happened." Mariana snapped. "Guys stop fighting." I cut in. "Mariana, I was with Jesus, its my fault. If I would've just told him no. I knew the whole time."

Mariana look at me upset. "You lied to me?" My eyes watered. "Mari, don't blame her. I made her promise, she just wanted us to stop fighting."

"And Liv don't blame yourself, you just wanted to keep me safe." Jesus gave me a small smile.

How could so much go wrong in one night? It's like the second I get on good terms with Jesus everything else goes to shit.

I sat next to Callie and Jesus and Mariana stood behind us while we waited. Finally, Lena came back, with a smile.

"She's going to be okay. She's good, she opened her eyes." Everyone sighed in relief. "They asked if we could move up to the second floor waiting room."

I gave a Jesus a reassuring smile, knowing he was blaming himself just as much as I was.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Brandon suddenly snapped at him. "I thought you didn't want anything to do with your birth mother. That she was a con artist, a drug addict."

"I was just trying to help her." Jesus explained. "And look how that turned out. We took you in when no one else wanted you."

Everyone went silent at his words. "When that woman abandoned you. And this is what you do?" Callie pulled on his shoulder "Brandon stop."

"Because of you my mom is fighting for her life!' Brandon shouted. "She's our mom too." Jesus said back.

"Brandon cool it." I told him. He glared. "You don't say shit, okay? This is your fault too. If you weren't so caught up in your bullshit none of this would've happened."

I bit my lip, trying to hold back tears.

Brandon then went at Mariana. "And you, you started all of this." Jesus pushed him away from his twin. "Back off, she feels bad enough."

"She should feel bad." I hugged Mariana as she cried into my shoulder. "Walk away." Callie told Brandon.

"It'll be okay." I whispered in her ear as we walked toward the elevator. "He's just scared for Stef, like all of us."

We sat beside Callie. I realized I hadn't seen Jude all night. "Cal, where's Jude?" I asked her. "He's staying the night at Connor's."

"Does he know?" Mariana asked her. "I don't think so." Callie answered. "It's probably better if he doesn't." I added.

Jesus walked back over to us. He called to women's shelter, wanting to check in on Ana.

"Did they find her?" I asked, turning to him. "Uh, she wasn't there. The people said she came in but left pretty quick." He said sadly.

"Did you give her money?" Mariana asked him. "Only like 16 bucks."

I grabbed the twins hands tightly. "We really screwed up." Mariana said, laying her head on my shoulder.

"Did you shoot him? Ana's boyfriend?" Jesus asked when Mike walked by our chairs. "Yeah." The man sighed.

"Is he dead?" Mike nodded. "Yeah." He answered. "Good."

Mike sent him a stern look. "When someone gets killed, it's never good. No matter what they did."

_________

We were all sitting in the waiting room in silence. None of us felt like talking.

Lena got back from the hospital room. "I can take you guys in, now. Mom has a tube in her throat, it looks scary but it helps her breath."

"Callie? Liv?" She asked when we stayed in our seats. "We'll wait here." Callie answered.

It felt weird for either of us to go with them. Even if they were starting to feel like family.

"So, you feel okay after Liam showed up the other day?" Callie asked me.

I bit my lip. Should I tell her?

"Yeah, yeah everything's fine. I barely saw him anyway." I lied with a weak smile.

As much as she should know, I couldn't tell her. Stef was in the hospital, my stupid drama wasn't important.

She sent me an unsure look but nodded when my smile never fell. "That's good."

"Can we just go home?" I asked her, wanting to leave the hospital. "Yeah, I'll text Brandon."

__________

Everyone was doing their own thing when we got back to the house.

Jesus and Mariana were cleaning out a closet and Callie and Brandon were packing for Lena.

I decided to just stay in my room. I had no urge to hang out with Brandon and the twins needed time to talk.

I sat in my bed, staring at Liam's contact.

After the other night he had responded to my text, but I never opened it.

I guess now was better then never.

me
why are you looking?
we agreed this couldn't happen

liam
can we talk in person?
it'll make more sense

He wanted to meet up with me? It was a terrible idea.

We were around each other for less than five minutes and everything was screwed.

I shouldn't meet up with him. But I know he'll never tell me the truth unless I follow his request.
