It was well past midnight and everyone in the household were in deep slumber. But there was one soul who was still wide awake. As she tossed and turned in bed, it really was a surprise that she had managed to hold in her emotions for this long. She sat up and with a blink of an eye, tears started to roll down her cheek as she recalled everything that she had dealt with in the past few days.
Everyone knew her as a bubbly girl who always had a huge smile on her face. People would say that her smile was so beautiful and would love to look at her eyes which would shine each time she spoke. She was known as the girl who was always full of life, who had the ability to rattle on and on without feeling tired. She was always spreading joy everywhere she would go and with her around, there was absolutely no reason not to smile. But here she was, no less than a piece of mess, all broken within.
No one knew her struggles because she had always bottled up her feelings. She was so pure that she could never express herself in a way that would hurt or make others upset which basically meant she had to deal with all the negativity on her own. One can only hold in emotions for a while and eventually it will find its way out, often causing more damage than it would have had he/she expressed it at the right time. And that was exactly what was happening.

He closed the door, placed his bag at the corner of the room and with wide steps, he covered the entire length and reached her even before she could speak anything. He engulfed her in his bear hug and she instantaneously felt at ease. No words were exchanged for a good five minutes but she got the message - she wasn't alone in her struggle.

He pulled up the blanket, tucked her into bed and gave her a kiss on her forehead. He sat down beside her and watched as she slowly fell asleep.

Edhuvum kadandhu pogumThere was a lot to do and after tonight, he knew that he had to do it real soon. Taking a deep breath, he composed himself. It was going to be a tough road ahead but they had to take the road less travelled.
It wasn't until a few days later that the two of them had some time to speak. He knew that she needed a change in environment and so he brought her out to a nearby park. The first 30 minutes was spent in silence - her eyes were downcast and she had been clenching her fist tightly. The silence was slowly becoming uncomfortable so she started to talk. She was still looking down and her voice was trembling. It pained him to see her go through this but he knew that there was really no way out.
