Faun's POV:
I used to have a childhood best friend.
They were my only friend growing up, sadly they disappeared just as fast as they came into my life. Well, I guess it was only natural; no human has feathery wings and bright yellow irises. No human is dead pale, pale like a corpse and bared sharp fangs, that looked like it could penetrate bone. No human has a sclera that is night black. Lastly no human has a demon looking tail..
Mother always said it was my imagination. The probability of that being true is 100%. I was only a kid when they showed themselves. It was only until I moved away from the countryside that they disappeared. I slightly remember the feeling of sadness when I came home one last time to say goodbye to my friend. I went to the flower fields behind my house only to find no one.
That was the last of my friend. It's odd, I have a fragment of memory that holds what their name is.
Although that doesn't matter, they were only imaginary.
Right?
Present Time:
I finally wake up in a reasonable time, although I do have a fucked sleeping schedule. Groggily walking down, the stairs, I look around to see if Tein-my roommate- was home. Sadly, they werent.I guess they are out with their boyfriend, Nathan Crossman. He is an okay guy, too much of a workaholic. Nathan works as a detective, so you can guess how serious of a guy he is.
Walking into the kitchen I made myself toast. I dont really eat breakfast; I dont have the appetite too. While I slowly eat the toast, I wonder what I should do for the day.
Well, the afternoon.
Suddenly an idea pops to mind, I can visit the new attractions in the museum. Its a small thing but at least I can get out of the house. I go back upstairs and finally get ready to go out.
Once Im ready, I skip to the door, locking the door behind me when I walk out. Before I go too far from the house, I make sure to see if my stuff is there. Most importantly my fucking wallet, there were too many times where I would forget my wallet until I buy something. Its unbelievable. I double check and then I finally walk to the museum. Its nice walking when people are busy. Gives a sense of life, when everything is busy, you can see that you are not alone. Only in the isolation of your house you are. At least in my case.
I push through the crowd of people until I get to the street the building is on. Just across from me I see a flash of a boy. He looked around my age, he looked almost albino. But there was a tint of warmth in his skin. I blinked and he was gone. Like he was washed away by the crowd, like a dropped item being washed away by the tide of rushing water. Suddenly I get a sense of nostalgia. Shaking it off I enter the museum.
Walking into the museum, it was like a visual library. It was almost comforting, like entering a family home. I walk to the corridor where the alleged new artifacts are.
Then there they were. Two statues made of iron, gold, and silver. They looked identical but still look like their own person.
"Yup, they just came in a week back," a voice says from behind me.
I turn around and see the security guard looking up at the statues. I look at where the plaque would be, holding the backstory of the artifacts.
"Sorry lass, they still dont know. We have never seen a statue like these, they might be fake for all we know," he laughs then continue, "apparently they are biblical statues, although thats just a rumour," he finally stops and looks back at the statues.
The security guard finally excuses himself and apologizes for the sudden conversation. I silently forgive him and continue looking up at the statues.
The nostalgia creeps back when I focus on the one to the left. He looked a bit younger than his companion, just like the boy a while back he looked about my age. The thing that threw me off the most was that he looked so much like my imaginary friend. Instead, he had shoulder length hair, the horns were bigger, and the tail seemed to be longer. He also had huge wings.
I take a big breath of air in and let it out when I look at the statue beside him. Somehow, he looked more mature than his partner. His slim figure and stoic expression almost seemed scary, but he looked almost angelic. He had a short ponytail, unlike the first one he had sets of wings. Two at the were just placed on the upper part of his back, almost near his shoulder blade. Another two were placed on the lower part of his back.
What seemed weird was that they both seemed -almost- alive. Like I could talk and connect with them.
"What the fuck," I whisper under my breath.
"Faun!?" I hear a familiar voice say my name, Tein.
Looking towards the direction of the voice I see Tein and their boyfriend walking towards me. I freeze and awkwardly look around. It's odd when you see your best friend and their boyfriend spotting you. Like what are you supposed to do? Walk towards them?
They finally reach and greet me. The first thing I noticed about them is the somewhat fancy clothing they are wearing. Probably a special occasion between them, since Nathan would never allow-I mean never-reach him when he is working. Tein or even his dad can't go and drop something off for him. I never really knew the reason but Tein told me it because he was paranoid that the suspect would sneak in and destroy everything they ever worked on. Kind of silly if you ask me.
"I didn't think museums were your sort of thing," Tein says.
I look around nervously.
"I guess they are."
Suddenly I hear Nathan speak, "We better get going, our reservation is in about 5 minutes."
Tein gasps, quickly saying a goodbye, telling me that they would buy something for me too. Just like that they are speed walking the fuck out of here. I sigh and look back at the statues.
"I'm starting to thing you're not imaginary..."
"Axel."
