Where it started

The last couple of weeks had been hard for everyone at the station, but especially for Andy and Vic. Not only had they lost Dean, Andy also finalised her divorce with Sullivan and Vic had gotten really drunk, destroyed Travis' bathroom with Jack and then kissed him (not something she was proud of).

It was not that awkward week between Christmas and New Year. They had gotten over all stupid incidents from Christmas and were now just waiting for people to be even more stupid at New Year.

Since Vic had come back to work it had become an unspoken thing that her and Andy would eat lunch together.

Vic:

"Wait why did you do that" I say while laughing.

"I don't know, but it made you laugh, didn't it?" Andy says while joining in the laughter.

I shake my head while looking down at what I have for lunch today. I see Andy looking at me with that smirk or hers telling me she wants to share. If only I could say no.

"How about half of my sandwich, for half of you brownie?" I say knowing full well that even if she said no I would still give her half of my sandwich.

Her smirk returns "Sounds tempting"

Then Travis walks into the beanery "what are you two doing?" he says sitting next to me. "Wait are you two trading lunches again?"

"Well Mrs over there is still trying to decide if she wants to accept my deal" I tell him.

"Your both children" he says before grabbing his own food.

"Fine but only because I know that for whatever reason Carina made you that sandwich" Andy says with a small pout as she's trying to be mad but honestly its just rather cute.

We swap our food.

Travis gives me a look as he's walking back over to us. One that I am very glad Andy can't see.

"Was that just a reason to brush hands?" he asks.

"What?" Andy smirks taking a bite of her sandwich.

He looks between us eyeing me up. Of course he knows how I feel, he's my best friend, plus I needed to tell someone and get this off my chest.

"What?" I say giving him a look to stop.

He shakes his head at me and leaves. I steal his chips from his hand.

"Hey they were the best part of my lunch"

"That's what you get for teasing." I say getting up from the table. "Don't mess with Hughes or you'll get the..." I say trying to think of a rhyme. "Shit. Ugh whatever." I say walking off.

"Oh that was real bad." Andy says putting her trash in the bin.

"Oh shut up" I say looking at my feet.

- End of the shift -

"So for anyone who isn't aware Station 19 will be holding a small get together for New Years. It is mandatory. Friends and family are welcome but please remember that if you are on call no drinking and please be sensible. It starts at 8:30pm and depending how busy the day shift is, anyone on shift, which is A shift, will be helping set up but would also be appreciated that if you aren't on shift that you come in to help set up. Formal attire for anyone not on shift. Are we clear?" Captain Beckett says finishing up his speech.

We are all silent.

"Thank you, you are all dismissed."

Andy:

I walk over to Vic.

"Okay, I still don't like him but who would have thought he'd let us actually celebrate" Vic says.

"I know I think I'm still in shock" I say pinching Vic.

"Ouch, what was that for?"

"Just checking were not dreaming"

We both burst out into hysterics.

We start walking back to our lockers when Sullivan grabs my arm.

Even though the divorce is finalised and we are kind of on alright terms considering, he still isn't the most popular guy around her, especially when it comes to Vic, Maya and Carina.

"Um hey Sullivan. What's up?" I ask looking at him.

"Hey, um, with it being a New Years party and all, most people are bringing dates." I look at him slightly confused. "I guess I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?"

"As friends?"

"Oh yeah, of course. I want things to go back to how they used to be."

"I mean yeah sure"

Still confused by the conversation I just had with my ex husband, I turn around and bump into Vic.

"Oh sorry, didn't see you" I say smiling.

"It's okay I guess I can forgive you" she replies with that oh so cute smirk of hers. "Were you just talking to Sullivan." She asks.

I give her a look.

"Don't Vic" I say knowing what was coming.

"I just don't trust him. What did he want?"

I look at the ground

"He didn't"

"He just wants to go as friends" I look up at her and she has a look on her face that I've seen before but never with me. Is she jealous?

"And you said yes?"

"What did you want be to do Vic? I don't have a good reason to say no."

"You could of said you already had a date"

"Who Vic, who on earth would want to go to the Station NYE party with me when I've just gotten divorced" I say kinda shouting at her.

"ME" Vic yells at me. Everyone stares but I am so glad no one actually knows what we're talking about.

There is a silence between us before she starts to walk off.

"Hey" I say

she turns around

"Yeah?"

"Don't think your getting out of a dance with me"

She gives me a small smile before walking off confirming to me that we are ok.
