"Honey, we don't want you to spend all of your time up here in the attic anymore." Mom said
"Well, why not? I'm not bothering anyone! It's not dangerous or anything... is it?" I replied
"Actually, it is-it was. I have to tell you something that we have been keeping form you for a long time. See, you have or should I say, had an older sister. Her name was Delilah. She spent all of her time up here in the attic too. But, what we didn't know, was that there was on old creepy man, who she used to talk to when she was up here. She told us that she was always talking to the red headed man in the attic. We thought it was just an imaginary friend, but we soon found out that that wasn't the case. One night, we called Delilah down for dinner. She didn't come down or make any acknowledgement. We thought she just brought it up with her, like she did sometimes. but it was strange, because she always gave us a holler if she did that. We knew something was wrong, so we went up into the attic, and saw her little six year old body bashed and bloody, with the red headed man with a hokey stick sitting in the corner eating her dinner, with a smirk on his face." Dad said, tears threatening to spill out of his eyes.
I had no idea what to do, so I started crying, as did my mother. How Did I not know this?! Why would they keep something like this from me for so long?! I wish I would have met Delilah!
My dad started again," I sent your Mom downstairs to call the police, as I carefully slid over to examine Delilah's little body, hoping that she was still breathing. . The police came quickly and took the man out of our house in handcuffs. We never knew why he did it, or why he was up there. Supposedly he was taken to serve a lifetime in prison. We didn't know if that ever happened though. We don't want you to be in the same danger that she was in. So from now on, you cannot sleep up here, be here when we aren't home, or when we are asleep. Do you understand? We are just concerned about your safety."
I nodded my head, then gathered my things and followed them back down stairs. I didn't know if I ever wanted to go back up there again.
