Leo Jones

I enjoyed watching this soccer game against the Maxfield Boarding School. The atmosphere was really cool and I liked the students screaming and just feeling the entire game. The place was really big. A  large field of grass with a plenty of places to sit. It was like a stage, just on the outside. The rain, that poured through my hair was refreshing. My gaze was directed on the football players, before someone interrupted me.
»Hey, Mr. Jones. I love the game. Just watching the players at 9 pm is so amazing.«, someone enthused.
I recognized the voice and was looking next to myself.
»Oh hello David. I like to hear that. I love this game too and we are so close to beat them.«
David was a boy, which I really liked. I would say, that they were a good friend of mine and I really liked them. They were one of my favorite students in history class. Also were they really good in my politics lessons. I liked their whole personality. How they expressed the gender movement in LGBTQ and their style. I heard from the E-boy style. It was all on Instagram and another App, which teenagers use... ah right, Tiktok. The people wore many black colors and much makeup, like eyeliner. Mostly non binary people, had this style. They also had a few tattoos and leather accessories. Their style could give people discomfort and it matched with their figure. Those extremely slim arms and their underweight figure, was scary to some of the students and many people didn't like him, because of that. He also got bullied often, by his classmates. I tried to take action of it, but the principle didn’t take that seriously and didn't make consequences.
However they were very good with Daisy, his best friend, who was also non binary.

They laughed: »Yeah just 17 minutes and the game is over. 1 to 1!«
I was standing a little bit closer to them: »I want to be completely honest with you. I don't like the Maxfield academy. The teachers are very direct and the students unfriendly.«
They looked at me with his eyes wide open. You could clearly  see, that they were surprised, that I as a teacher, would say that.
»Yeah me too, but I also dislike a few people from the school.«
I was a teacher you can joke and gossip with, not like some other strict ones. I gave him a frowning look: »Do you want to tell me, who it is?«
They nodded and looked at the players. »It's Mrs. King, the principle. She often says, she doesn't like me. Not just because of my inmature style, also because of my gender Identity. I mean I am non binary, although I have male sex characteristics.«
»I understand.«, I said, »Yeah I don't like her either. She is very traditional and thinks, that those people aren´t normal.«

They looked at the building and looked at me again. »However I must go to the restroom. I will be back soon. If I'm not here until the end of the game, I'm probably dead.<<, he joked.
I gave him a soft smile and focused on the game.

4 Minutes left.

»GOAAALLLL!«, everyone screamed. We almost won. Only four minutes left. It got so exiting and the adrenaline was controlling me. This excitement was incredible. I must stay here and wait, until the game was over. Soccer was the highlight of the year and I loved seeing every student in one place.  Suddenly Daisy came: »Did you see David somewhere?«
I gave them a confused look: »No. He said he would go to the restroom.«
The, nodded: »Okay thanks. I've got his keys, so he couldn't be in his room.«  and left. I started to feel worried about him. I never saw  him, coming back, so I went to the toilet in the building and knocked, to make sure nobody was in there.

It was scary to hear no sounds. Just the lights of the principles room were on. Maybe they left in his room? No, that would be impossible. Daisy got his keys. I opened the door of the boys toilet carefully. The room, painted in black itself alone was creepy. With slow steps, I walked through the toilet and I looked down. There they were. The look of them was traumatizing. Davids dead body, covered in blood with a knife in their chest. Their eyes wide open. I was shocked. I must call the police! I felt my breathing getting heavier and faster, my eyes opened wide. My body paralyzed and my hand instinctively went over my hair and stroked it. My head was filled with frustration, anger and sadness and I felt how my tears rolled under my eyes. They were such a nice and innocent boy. They definitely didn't deserve such a tragic death, but who could it be? It could be everyone. I lost the focus on the reality..
I started to feel the goosebumbs, spreading down my neck, as I ran with desperation to the field and looked at the teachers. Everyone noticed my gaze. I received comments like:
»Is everything okay? You look like you're having a panic attack.«
»Did you see a ghost?«, Daisy asked.
Suddenly I started to cry: »David is dead!«
I just wanted to let everything out and leave. I remembered their smile and the last time I saw them, more than five minutes ago. It was painful, Everything was painful.
In this Moment I realized, who the killer was: Mrs. King.
