I never meant for it to get this far. It didn't start out as anything serious. Just late night chats and the occasional evening drinks. Then we started hanging out more and more when Monica was away and before I knew it we were sleeping together, only I can't tell her that she'd never understand.
"We we're friends" with benefits I think to myself.
"Do you have any idea why she would want to hurt your wife at all? Hmm maybe that she wanted us to be together and instead I told her a few days prior to Monica's murder that we needed to end this thing whatever it was.
"No ma'am." I lie through my teeth. I know it's stupid to lie about this but I cannot spit on Monica anymore than I already have, I have to honor her memory.
"Did her appearance change around the time of this encounter?" Doctor Maurice asks me. I have been seeing Doctor Juliette Maurice twice a week since the brutal murder of my wife and unborn child. I know she's here to help me but I can't help but feel on edge, afraid to let anyone in considering the circumstances.
I shake my head in denial and that's when I hear her voice. "Stew.. it's okay. Tell her." I know it's in my imagination after all I saw her lifelessly strewn across the floor, different parts of the woman I still love each lay in a separate place in the room. I know hearing the voice of someone dead might make me seem crazy but I'm this case it's the encouragement I need. So I take a deep breath, brace myself, and start from the very beginning.
